Finding a hypno-doula in Los Angeles

I've checked the Hypnobabies site, and they offer no directory. Most doula listings don't call out hypno-doulas. I've found a couple, but no one we've "clicked" with who is available in April. Where should I look? (Anyone here meet the description?)

have you tried...

The directory of instructors on the hypnobabies website? Many of them attend births as doulas too?

Asking local Hypnobabies instructors for names of doulas they recommend?

Calling Hypnobabies?

Hope that helps,
Micky

I'm emailing my sis right now, she had a hypnobabies doula, I'll let you know asap!

Your best bet is to contact the Hypnobabies instructors and ask them for referrals (if none of them are attending births).

Carole Thorpe is awesome, but she's in Mission Viejo so I don't know if that's close enough. http://www.hypnosis4birth.com

Anyway, contact the instructors on this list and I'm sure they'll have names for you:

Many of them list themselves as hypno-doulas, too.

Well, there are two on there in the Greater Los Angeles area, so I'll check them out. ;-) Mission Viejo is a bit of a haul... there are people who make the commute every day, but it's over an hour unless there's zero traffic (which there never is on the 5 or the 405).

Thanks for pointing me to the right part of the site. I still would like more choices ;-) but it's a start!

Thats who my sister suggested! 1 hr is nothing, just getting to some parts in brooklyn or queens takes that long here in NY. I'm sure some go that far.

By "over an hour" I mean that the ever-optimistic Google Maps puts her 58 minutes from our house, and 68 from the hospital. ;-) (We're actually a good 40 minutes from the hospital, depending on traffic, and may rent a hotel suite nearby for early labor, since the grandparents and DS will probably want a place to shower and nap anyway.) Google helpfully states that the 62-mile trip from Mission Viejo to UCLA (where we'll be delivering) is "up to 2 hours 10 minutes in traffic." ;-) I really dunno.

But, I sent her an email, asking if she does births up here and if not, can she recommend someone who does. I figure two recommendations on Mothering.com is pretty strong. ;-)

I see you posted a while back but you may want to try Octavia Lindlahr...

Thanks... we've found the doula we want, though.
