Hiya folks,
I have come across this great organization that promotes easy and powerful steps to take towards curbing our carbon output. This month their campaign is about banning junk mail from our mailboxes...why woud we not want to do that...an they make it easy for you!
I don't know about you but since I became a mom I find myself with less time for direct action and more capacity for guilt. I am glad that an organization like this exists and helps folks like me feel good for what I'm already doing and gives easy steps towards more effective action. They also seem to connect people by offering incentives to share the info. (great prizes...which I will never be quite motivated enough to win...sigh....but still fun to try You can check it out on this site:

Here in a nutshell is what they say about junkmail:

Everything we consume has a climate impact, but paper more so than most commodities. According to the Department of Energy, the forest products industry is the third largest industrial consumer of energy, behind only petroleum and chemicals, and the pulp and paper industry uses the vast majority of that energy. The production and disposal of direct mail alone consumes more energy than 3 million cars! So if junk mail adds clutter and annoyance to your life AND exacerbates climate change, why not take action to lighten your load?
