I now a couple of you are planning on getting one of these and they are on sale right now. Hope this helps someone! (not sure if I should post link, but I'm sure a google search will bring up the cheapest place). The cheapest place doesn't ship to Alaska and I already have my infant seat...but that new purple color is awesome!

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning to use a hand-me-down, but now I'm really tempted to splurge (It's not really a splurge if it's a carseat, now is it?)
I've noticed that some websites have lower prices than other, so it pays to poke around a little.

It totally pays to shop around. Also because a lot of places have free shipping and not all stores carry the super cute prints.
We REALLY want another Britax for this babe and plan on waiting until s/he is born so that we can get a gender specific print
. We'll just bring the bucket to the hospital for the ride home and then splurge shortly after. I've hinted to my parents that it's the one big item left that we could really use.

I know I want another one so bad, but I don't need it yet. I have a 25% off coupon for baby items from Amazon and they have free shipping to Alaska for some of them. So less then $200 buck for a Decathalon or a Boulevard in the Shannon print no less. But I was thinking of trying a Radian for this baby...urgh...Hello, my name is Connie and I'm a car seat addict.

My DH and I went to BRU this weekend to compare the Britax Decathlon and Marathon and were told the Decathlon got recalled. They said they were supposed to be getting the new one in soon. I hadn't heard about any recalls with Britax before. I guess all the companies have had recalls now?
Do you all think I should I worry about the Decathlon or no?
Do you all think I should I worry about the Decathlon or no?
Here's the details from this site
Model(s): Decathlon - E9L47 - Child Restraint System
Production Dates: February 12, 2005 - July 31, 2007
Defect: Certain Britax Decathlon child restraint systems, Model E9L47, manufactured from February 12, 2005, through July 31, 2007. The harness adjuster housing can pop out of position which makes it difficult to adjust the harness to fit snuggly around the child. In the event of a vehicle crash, a child could suffer injuries if the harness is not properly adjusted.
Corrective Action: Britax will send notices to all registered owners, which will consist of the necessary parts to repair their child restraint system(s) along with repair instructions free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on August 17, 2007. Owners can contact Britax at 1-800-683-2045 or visit their website at www.britaxusa.com.
NHTSA No.: 07C-005
[Britax Safety Recall No.: BCS#080701]
Hum, I didn't know about that one, which is strange because I get email updates about all car seat recalls. I would be ok buying a Decathlon, but I really like my Boulevard, so that is what is tempting me!

Where did you get a 25% off for Amazon??
I also wanted to wait to fund out the sex of the baby..and it will be Decemeber if we are lucky. But I hate to miss a great sale on the boulevard!! Wonder if I get it in Shannon print I could take it back to BRU and swap colors if I need to....hmmm

Is the Shannon that big, pink flowered one?
See, I say, just get the Shannon! Who cares if a boy or girl baby is in a pink seat, you know? It doesn't hurt them and as I told my hubby, it makes me happy to see a pretty, bright print. WHO will get to see it that will give you problems about it and do they really matter?

I'm sure you could order a different cover from Britax and ebay the girly one is you have a boy. I personally would gladly trade you for my Park Ave if I have a girl! But look at babyage because unless you need it shipped to Alaska they have better prices and free shipping.
The 25% off coupon was a deal they had a couple months ago that if you created a baby registry they sent you a code for 25% off any amazon baby items that are sold from amazon directly, not authorized sellers. That's the only reason I have a registry for this baby! Right now I'm debating on another Regent that would be $150 shipped here!!! Then I could pass my Boulevard down to the new baby..urgh, decisions!

If anyone likes the Britax but needs a less expensive alternative, check out the Fisher Price Safe Voyage. It's made by Britax for FP and is very similar to the Marathon (I think the weight max is like 10 pounds lower, and there is no tethering if my preggo mind serves me well!). I have two MAs and bought the FPSV for the new baby and can't tell the difference. You can get them for $130 shipped from Albee Baby (mine just came today and has a DOM of 3/07). They are being discontinued due to lack of popluarity I believe. I'm a BIG Britax fan, but I know sometimes they are kind of steep for some families. HTH someone!

Oh, just wanted to chime in that we have a Decathalon for DS and the recall was a good one but relatively minor. Had to do with the straps twisting and so they just send you a little kit to fix it. Their customer service people are awesome
