ultraviolent action movie "shoot 'em up" slight lactivist flavor.

Ok so I know "Shoot 'em up" which is a super violent action movie is the last place you would expect to see it but here were the lactivist themes:
(some spoilers below... but really who but me is gonna see this movie.)

1) Baby born during a gunfight... Good guy tries to hide the mom and baby and he asks her to get him quiet. She looks all confused and he says "Give him something to DRINK" and opens her shirt.

2) The mom dies in the gunfight ( but he escapes with the baby. The first thing he does is go to a woman he knew that was lactating (she was a "specialty" prostitute, but still... no formula or bottles in sight.)

3) The first thing the main bad guy does is say "He is going to need to feed the baby... find me every wet nurse in the county".

There is also a significant amount of baby wearing in the movie. It wasn't exactly AP with bullets... but I found it interesting that a very key element in the movie was that babies need someone who is lactating to take care of them.

Excellent.

You know who will see that?

Young boys (think teen) who flock to such violent flicks and they'll see breastmilk as just a normal part of taking care of a babe. Yay!

Huh, who would've thought? That's awesome!

Thats very similar to the movie Tsotsi, its an African movie. A criminal carjacks a car, I believe, and when he realizes a baby is in it, he finds a wet nurse who nurses the baby and her own. Its very beautiful.

LOL-- the Plot Keywords on one site were 'birth' and 'shootout'

Too funny!

it looked good from the previews. I have a membership to a dvd club so I will most likely get that one when it becomes available since I cant ever make it to the theatre.

That's awesome! One of the things that bugged me about the movie "Children of Men" is that there was no mention whatsoever of how the baby was fed.

That's funny because my dh and I just watched Children of Men last night, and I was driving him crazy because every time the baby cried (which was a lot), I kept saying "put a boob in her mouth!". The mother wasn't shown feeding that baby even once .

I saw children of men when it was first released, so I can't remember it exactly, but I thought Clive Owen's character did show the mama how to feed her baby? I could have sworn he did!

I was doing this too. And no I don't remember any mention of feeding whatsoever in the movie. It would stand to reason she had to breastfeed as there was no formula or bottles. I think that they were specifically trying to avoid any mention of feeding. That movie seriously freaked me out. I didn't watch it until a couple of months ago and it gave me contractions. I couldn't imagine having to live that way.
