Ultrasounds, coffe and mw visit

We had our 31 wk check in with the midwives on Sat and it was fun because DH got to come along (he's usually at work when I have the appts). Because of the SUA issue, I knew they wanted to do another ultrasound soon, to check on growth, but didn't know when. We ended up going in right after our appt which was awesome because we had the kids with us too. And NO, we didn't find out what s/he is . I've waited this long, I'm sure as heck not going to cave.

There was a slight arrythmia with the babe's HB when she was listening (even DH and I picked up on it right away) but she commented that caffeine can do that sometimes and so I am cutting out my morning cup of coffee . But it's worth it for a little peace of mind. FWIW it had stopped by the time we had the ultrasound, which just confirms that it was most likely due to my morning caffeine surge.

Anyone else going to start taking weekly pics from here on out? DS was born at 37.5 wks and so I am starting to freak about going a bit early again. Nesting has hit completely. I am a raging b_-_- right now about the house, poor DH . I am starting to wash everything and just picked up a load of hand me downs from a gf this weekend!

OMG I had no idea caffeine did that to the baby. I have been having a soda in the afternoon sometimes to help me get thru the day. Seems like nothing else will pick me up like a soda. I tried coffee and I think the minerals make me feel weird when I haven't had any in so long and then start up again. Seems like that happens even when not preggo if I don't have Starbucks or Peet's in a while.

My brain is in nesting mode, but my body hasn't followed so much. And my kids are making sure everything is trashed. But I also call upon them to help me get things done... I just get more irritated that it all has to be done over and over again.

So it sounds like everything's going well then! Yay! Glad the whole Famn Damily got to see the u/s!

That is an excellent way to put it- I have been making and updating lists, looking around and thinking like mad about all the things I want to get done in the next 60 or so days... But then actually getting off my arse and DOING it is a whole other matter.

Wow, didn't realize caffeine could have such a negative effect. I've started drinking daily coffee as well in the last two months. Like Gina, it's the only way I can get through the afternoon. I have my next appt. tomorrow afternoon, we'll see what the mw has to say about it.

In my ninth grade science class we did an exercise where we injected caffeine into a microcellular organism and measured its heart rate before and after the injection. After that, I had no illusions about caffeine. It didn't stop me from drinking it though, until I got pregnant.

Yeah, she said that usually she doesn't care if it's just a cup a day. But since the arrythmia was SO noticable and it freaked me out SO much she said to just stop...

Oh the other good part is that I am well on track for gaining less than I did with either two other pregnancies which was a big goal for me this time around (and last time). So I feel pretty good about everything right now

Okay, I should fess up. While we didn't study babies and the effects of caffeine, I did study caffeine when I was in college in a Chemical Dependency class (once thought I might counsel addicts) and it's nasty, nasty, nasty stuff!

So even without the baby studies, I should have known. But I tend to just not think about it because it's a huge vice for me and I go through periods of giving it up, but never have kicked the habit for good.

Those headaches don't make it any easier to kick.

Thanks Aimee I'm not worried. They couldn't find anything abnormal at our level 2 or any after.
