The OTHER side of natural child birth

Remember I posted recently about a Baby Story that had a very quiet and easy labor and delivery with hypnobirth?

They have one on right now with a third time mama doing a natural water birth and she has back labor, is swearing, crying, etc... The labor is going pretty fast, but her other two births were apparently much easier.

Okay, I shouldn't laugh, but I cannot help myself! I'm laughing because that could be me in a couple of months! Right down to the fact that everyone is obsessing over whether it's a boy or a girl and she ended up with her third girl

It just reminds me that each baby is different and I need to be ready for anything! Poor mama! But I cannot help but laugh when she swears.

my birth hurt and i was super noisy. i kept low tones though so my body wouldn't tense.

Don't get me wrong! Mine hurt too. I shouldn't make it seem like I have ever had what that hypnobirth gal had.

I don't get too loud or anything. Maybe more at the end when the ring of fire hits and that head and those shoulders are coming.

My real concern is that what if this one ends up being my back labor baby? I've heard such horrible things about that. OUCH!!

That and I am hoping not to swear like a sailor!

OH LORDY does back labor hurt. Westen was posterior. Screaming, crying...yep!

Thanks for that reminder Gina.

I'd rather remain blissfully unaware of how different (and potentially more painful) this next one could be.

soooo swearing and screaming are not normal birth techniques??? (I had back labor...)

back labor here too, and i pushed her out posterior. i don't know what the other kind feels like, so i have nothing to compare it to

Well I didn't have back labor and I was swearing and "moaning" pretty loudly (it was more like roaring as I recall, but then it's all kind of hazy). After transition, DH says I would occasionally scream, especially towards the end. I would call out for Jesus one minute and then yell "M-F!!" the next. Anyway, I don't really remember much of it now, except that it hurt and I remember feeling like someone was carving out my insides with a knife. So funny how that works, you know? Can't exactly remember what the pain felt like, only that it hurt and it was worth it. But it's over and I did it! Yay! My labor was pretty quick too, 7 hours, but it still hurt. I'd do it again.

ETA: Just realized this was a birth club. Sorry for intruding!!

I did a lot of swearing at ds' birth and I didn't have back labor. I can only imagine what would come out of my mouth if that isn't the case this time!

Back labor? O yeah, painful...I was roaring, moaning and never thought sounds like that could leave my throat.
With the second I was just humming. Never really swore tho. Who knows what's gonna happen with this one

I vaguely remember saying "ow ow ow ow OWWWWWWW" when I was in labor last time. I don't think I swore at all but I would not put it past me to swear this time. At DH. He tends to be.. well, overly attentive.

My doula suggested that I make some noise last time around... I guess my nordic reserve was holding my back. They pulled the plug on the whole thing just as I was going into transition, though, so I may have let loose with some trucker language if I'd kept going.

I'll let you know in two months, I guess.

I have to keep reminding myself that every labor is different too! I had back labor with the first two so maybe not for this one. But both of my other two were so similar it's hard to not think that is what I have in store for this time, you know?

Hehe, it ran through my head after I posted that this might get me in trouble with a few of you!

I always thought if I was to have the privelege of a natural birth I would be making some sort of low groaning almost tribal noise.....but I can picture myself cussin too.....

This time I'm giving myself permission to do WHATEVER! I was so shy and embarrassed last time and had back labor and just wanted to scream and yell M-F! M-F! M-F! Maybe that would have helped instead of holding it in! At least I didn't yell at DH.

I know I will be screaming the F-word the whole time. That and "hooooly sh*t" I told my mom and she asked me nicely if I could please not say unwholesome words lol. (she spells out everything rude) She also asked that I keep myself decent. I told her she can either not see the baby born, or she can deal with my naked boobs. (I'm asuming she wasn't expecting me to wear panties!)

I was quiet with DS, I guess being in the hospital made me feel like I had to be subdued. I let it all loose at home with DD though! That is my DS's main memory of her birth: "You were loud, mom!" I don't think I ever swore, but I moaned and groaned. Instead of breathing her out gently and quietly, I was hollering about it hurting and burning. Afterwards I was a bit embarrassed to watch the birth video!

It is soooo normal to be loud though... everyone has their own style but I think quiet mamas are in the minority. I like loud vocal mamas because it is easier to tell what is going on with them!
