I got a lovely little floor plan faxed to me last week. And I went out of town for a couple days and came back with the intent to finally look at it.

I have been thinking about the things we don't see, a message about a basemente put me to think about that... And I discovered that over my wealth-fame-realtionship areas I have a terrace (do you call it that in English?), which is in need of painting, repairs, plants, and 'life' alltogether. Now it looks like a ceiling: empty, boring, exposed to the neighbors. Interesting enough this is the only part of the house where the sun shines the whole year, even in winter. So, I'm thinking about that now. Spring is almost here so I'll start injecting some 'life' into my upper parts.
The water tank is just over the relationship area (and it's so funny now that I think about it, when we were repairing the house and installing the tank we had our bigest fight about that tank, because I didn't wanted it there. My argument was that the tank would block the sun, which it doesn't, by the way) Do you think that tank could be doing some harm to our relationship? I'm planning to have it covered with a hiedra (climbing plant) asap.
Another by the way: our relationship is sooooo much better

Hey there! How's everyone doing?
It's been quiet for a few days. I've been reading, reading, reading . Read K.K.'s Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui again (read it many years ago). It is really hitting home with me now & has inspired me to get rid of a lot of paper clutter & back-logged bank statements I will never get around to reconciling. I got so excited the other day driving home when I decided I was going to do it. Borrowed my mum's shredder today & I'll get started tomorrow I'll let you know how that goes. I have almost finished T. Collins' Feng Shui for Prosperity & I'm getting some great ideas from that as well.

Tracy, thanks again for all the ideas for the house. I did exchange those curtains, so I'll have green, floral design ones up in the family area soon. We do really need to work on the laundry (relationship) room...it is a disaster

At least dh doesn't think I've gone nuts with this. He actually agrees that we should do a lot of this stuff & it's mostly common sense (cleaning & decluttering), but isn't against trying some of the more obscure things, either. I'm really glad & quite surprised as he's not really the "woo-woo", touchy-feely-type

Anyway, as always I have a few specific questions:
1) There is a back door in the laundry room that we never (well, hardly ever) use with stuff in front of it. Should we keep it unblocked, even so? It also has a couple of holes patched in it where the dog ate 2 cat doors . Definitely needs replacing, but then so many things do :

2) The relationship corner of the laundry (relationship) room is where we put empty bottles & cans to be taken for refund. Not very auspicious in any room, but worse here, I'm thinking. Beer has been known to be a bone of contention around here on occasion . Anyway, any suggestions of a better place to keep them or should we just try to keep them neat & take them in often?

3) Not sure how we could cover the bedroom closet door mirrors until we can afford new ones (see #1). Would it be better to just take them down & have nothing in the mean time? Actually, we could probably hang a couple of sheets once they're gone.

4) We have a fairly large picture of a coyote on a hill in the desert. It's not up right now since it's spot was taken by an entertainment unit & I'm not sure if there's a good place for it anywhere after reading that story in FS for Prosperity. Dh says he never really liked it anyway. Should we just sell it & have done with it? (I like it but don't really care either way)

5) I have come up with an affirmation that basically covers everything. Should I make several more specific ones for each area or if not, where would be the best place to put this?:
"My healthy, loving family is enjoying the abundance we are receiving"

6) There is a small, covered porch just outside the front door which sticks out on its own. Should I include this in the baguas or not?

Any thoughts, anyone?

My thoughts are getting that door together! HOles in the door do not feel right for relationships. My ds is always pushing out the screen and I'm forever fixing it. I just don't like holes there at all. Go some place like a junk yard or maybe call a place that destroys houses and ask them for an old door. Then paint it and give it a nice door knob.

Agreed. This room should not be junky in any way, in my opinion. And I definitely would not want it to be the recycle room. Isn't that why God created garages? I should say, non attached garages... anyway, make that room beautiful.

I'm always the one who says this...take the mirrors down. Please. If you really can't..then I guess paint them. YOu will sleep so well. I'm not kidding. And of course I have my other reasons for getting rid of them.

Sell that painting! And frankly, if you read the books you know this is true. So, you are just pulling my leg even with asking this question....teehee..very funny. Sell it tomorrow.

why don't you just start with the ones you've got. YOu can add more later.

Under the lamp I took too red blocks of my son's and wrote out ME. I would have done my initials but I can't find a 't'.

I told my husband The next time that phone rings it better be someone offering something that is helpful.

Sorry, I actually forgot to include the front porch on the drawing I sent you. It just sticks out the front of the house at the front door about 5' & is about 7' wide. lf I count this in the baguas it will leave a 5' section along the rest of the front of the house out in the open on top of the open angels section. What do you think?

Just wanted to chime in and thank you all for this and the other feng shui thread. I have been following both for quite some time now and gleaning whatever info I can from them. Trabot-you are amazing! In fact I may be needing you assistance soon, as we are moving next month! I actually started with feng shui because I am ttc and saw your thread on the ttc board. Then I moved up and out and found the other threads. Anyway. I have been decluttering and working on placement and my map of my home. After three weeks of really getting into it and beginning to actually like the place we are in, despite the bad history of the house, and some mapping troubles, we got a notice that the owner is selling the house and we have to move! I feng shuied us right out of a home As sad as I initially was, in retrospect, I really should have seen it coming. I learned a lot working on this house and am eager to move into a new house and start again. Thank you trabot for your wisdom! I will be back around again, once we have found a place and are moved in. Right now we are just looking for a place to be while looking for a home to buy if we are able....Houses here are outrageously expensive right now! Even just to rent it is bad, besides that, everyone is selling instead of renting! Ok, this diatribe is getting too long, thank you all for reading. I will be back soon, once I have a house to work with!

Trabot, you inspired me and I fengshuied my desk as well. I changed everything! The printer and the scanner are now in my relationship area (hoping for a more creative way of communication between us) I put a small square magazine featuring a couple kissing. the bad thing is that now I have some wires on the floor that I could step in if I don't watch carefully... because of where ther plugs are. The laptop is right in the fame section, though shares a piece with the wealth corner. I basically work with the email so I guess that's good. I put a picture of my family in the obvious family spot and copied your ideas about the phone and the metal pencil cup ( I hope that works cause I haven't written anything in two years)
I'd rather sit the other way round in order to catch a glimpce of the balconny (the sky, the river) but then I should be offering my back to the door and and I guess that's not right, but (thinking in a loud voice) I guess a mirror could make the trick?
mamatonicola, i totally agree that you should keep those bottles out of the relationship area and fix that door. If you are not ready to do the new door thing, which btw it's a great idea, but sometimes it's difficult to find some time... I would suggest covering the holes with patches of a nice thread or paper or maybe even putting some funny stickers featuring a couple, kissing, etc. I know these last ideas sound totally un cool and poorish, but if you do it with some artsy spirit it can even look well.

Hey, it can't look any worse than it does right now! Thanks for the suggestions. Like I mentioned, there are so many things that need replacing right now, we just can't get to them all.
Any idea where I'd find a store that sells Feng Shui stuff? There's nothing in the Yellow Pages. There is a huge Chinese population here, so I'm sure there's something at one of their malls (yes, they have their own!), but if I could find somewhere to call first it would help. I'd really like to get a couple of crystals to help out the wealth/abundance area. Money really is going out as fast as it comes in right now

Well, we finally did it...took out the mirrored closet doors from our bedroom. After a he**ish night last night with dd in there, we need a good sleep! We hung a sheet over it until we can get new doors. It looks weird, but somehow strangely...calming :

Just wanted to say I love my new desk disposition!
I'm feeling happier and more uhm, 'rounded' at work. However, I've noticed that at home, at the carreer area there's a hole in the floor I guess that can't be good, not at all. And sometimes, I've been feeling like I'm sinking down in my job, though I'm supposed to have won a sort of promotion, etc, I have not had that "jump" and I feel it's time since I've been with t his company since 1996.

Trabot, my phone is ringing as usual, but I'm getting more "appropiate" calls, meaning only my boss, helpful co-workers, clients and vendors are calling versus my aunt, brother, niece, girlfriends with whom I used to chat during an hour instead of work. Now, I need to stop checking MDC during my job hours and do it only during lunch time...

mamatonicola, let us know about your night! Yesterday I hung courtains in my bedroom door/window that faces to the patio and I slept better. The chi stayed home! I bet in those Chinese malls there's for sure a feng shui store. At least, at our small (two blocks) China town here in Bs. As. there's one.

Well, I have slept great the last couple of nights . I haven't even noticed when dd came into our bed . Dh says he has slept better too. I have noticed he's not snoring as much . Unfortunately, ds woke up more last night than he has in a long time . What's up with that :
Maybe tonight we can get the new curtain rod up & hang the new bedroom curtains . Did I mention I took the off-white ones back & got green ones? They even have a floral pattern - perfect for the family area .

Ivanhoe, I've got the same thing going on... when phone was in fame it was all about everyone trying to reach me in kind of a needy way..but now..no calls....very, very interesting.

Boy, am I obsessed these days with feng shui!!! I just checked out TK Coillins book from the library and going over it - I'm feeling inspiried - now if I can just find the time to do everything I'm thinking about! But I have a HUGE question....

Trabot, when I gave you that diagram (if you can call it that) of my house w/the garage placement a page or two back, you said to include the garage in the bagua.... So, if I do that, and I'm assuming I have to include part of the driveway in front of it... that would make my front door in the center of the bagua - and I always thought that the front door had to be in one of the three positions at the bottom of the bagua.... If I don't include the driveway in front of the garage, then the garage is a huge appendege (sp?) in career. Does this make sense? So, I'm wondering, do I now include the driveway or not.... if this is all too confusing I suppose I could fax you or email a more detailed drawing of the situation. And btw - yahoo!!! Merc. is going direct today!!!!
