Weird pains...

I am not panicking. I am not panicking. I was standing at work today and all of a sudden I got this HORRENDOUS pain for less than 2 seconds- it was like someone snapped me with an elastic from my vagina to my bellybutton. Then it was gone. Then it happened again about 15 minutes later, and again about 20 minutes later. It has not happened since (This was about 3 hours ago). It was so weird. Were these braxton hicks? Growing pains? I am not concerned, really, but it did take me by surprise. I hope baby is not planning to make an appearance soon.

I'm no help, because I've never had a Braxton-Hicks to my knowledge, but that would be my first guess. Stay off your feet, drink some water, and call your OB to double check. It's probably nothing, and not worth panicking, but it's always nice to have someone "official" reassure you.

Hugs!

I've had cervical kicks feel like that...when baby kicks a field goal right into the center of my cervix.

If you're worried...call. Never feel bad for calling.

Sounds like an angry nerve or a ligament getting ticked off at your size and activity. If it happens again, call someone. I am not so worried though, but I am not a provider!

I vote cervix kick or ligament spasm. I've had both of those be very painful and the cervical kicks in particular are weird - I feel them in strange places. My contractions are much longer lasting and not nearly as painful as that sounds.

I'm sure it's nothing serious, but call if you're worried. You'll feel better.

:
If it's BH, your entire uterus usually gets hard (feels like there's a basketball in there when you touch it) and they are not uncomfortable, just a weird feeling of tightening that lasts maybe a minute at most.

i will third this.

i get a feeling like this occasionally when i sneeze when laying down -- it's the only time i really have ligament pain, and it sounds very similar.

i wouldn't worry too much but call if you are nervous!! that is what your doctor is there for.

keep us updated, darlin.

yup-sounds like a ligament pain to me too

they are horrible! feels like there is a nail being driven into your cervix for those few seconds!

As I was thinking this over, I remember getting something like this in the second tri. It didn't go all the way that yours did, but it was uncomfortable. I also get those up the side when I get out of bed sometimes - usually during a growth spurt.

update

I had an OB appointment today and she said the pain sounded not serious- baby and I are doing fine, she said. *phew*! I guess it was ligament pain... she seems to be growing fast. I think I have doubled in size in the past 3 days! Thanks everyone!

Glad everything is ok.

I have that a lot. It makes me envision my baby biting my cervix or cork screwing her head into it.

I mentioned something similar and they checked it out while I was having the u/s even (ya know, while they were there) and said everything looked fine. It is probably just stretched ab muscles freaking out remembering the weight they'll have to bear .... to put it in my own words.

I just started getting those and they do hurt. I feel like I need to double over and sit down all at once and it's so intense but yet pretty short. I also vote for the [QUOTE cervix kick or ligament spasm. I've had both of those be very painful and the cervical kicks in particular are weird - I feel them in strange places. My contractions are much longer lasting and not nearly as painful as that sounds.[/QUOTE]

Glad to hear you are feeling better today after your OB appt.
