Prolapse or what?? Postpartum question

I birthed about 4 weeks ago.

I used to never be able to reach my cervix (well, if I could it took some work) and now I think I can feel it (I say I think, because i've never been able to really feel my cervix and get to know what it feel slike) and it feels quite low - I can feel it quite well with the top 1/4 of my finger or so. Is this a prolapse? Should I be worried? Will it go away and is it safe to have sex or will it be painful/dangerous? Dh and I dtd around 3 weeks and I don't *think* the probelm was there then, but then again I don't recall ever examining myself inside either. Will this effect future pregnancies/recoveries?

I'll call my midwife tomorrow and ask her - but it's late and I know I'll probably get other replies before then so that's wy I'm asking here :-) DH wants to continue getting intimate but now i'm a little worried and want to hold off. Now that I know it's lower I'm afraid it'll "interfere" if you know what I mean. It may have been low before, too... I have no idea.

4 weeks is still so early during the postpartum period.

In England they won't consider a prolapse evaluation until 1 year pp as they believe the vagina to be in trauma until that time. No SH!T

Chinese Medicine says postpartum is a period of two years!

I would suggest taking homeopathic sepia. Its great for prolapse. I take it and my cervix use to be near the opening of my vagina and I have to search for it now. I'm 5m pp. Also check out www.wholewoman.com The ladies there have wealth of information.

This is a good book to read too.
Natural Health after Birth: The Complete Guide to Postpartum Wellness

Hang in there. You'll get better. You're only 4 wks pp.

You have a beautiful family btw!
Congratulations on the arrival of your new dd! Enjoy your babymoon!

Thank you - I didn't know if a prolapse was considered right away or how long it took for the cervix to retreat back to it's original size and location.

I've been kegaling like crazy - not sure if that has made that much of a difference but when I examined myself again my cervix was futher up and nearly out of reach again. So hopefully that means all is going to be ok.
