natural samples/freebies for clients?

I'm looking for natural product samples for filling post partum bags. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to include or what sources offer great samples? I know I can get mainstream parenting mags and conventional baby product samples but I'm trying to steer clear of those. Also, any mws that give your clients custom printed lap tees or onesies~ where is a good, relatively inexpensive source for these?

TIA!!

I know a mw who gives her clients those Lance Armstrong-type bracelets that say "Trust Birth." I'm not sure where to get them, you could probably google "personalized bracelets" or something. A friend of mine had some made for her charity and said they weren't very expensive.

A nice sitz bath/pp bath herbal kit?

I have emery boards with all my contact info on them that I give to clients. Or any pregnant woman I meet.

I received a lansinoh sample with wool diapers--that would be helpful PP. Also, Mother's Milk Tea. For baby, maybe Burt's Bees or Weleda or California baby.

Whole Foods has a sweeeeeet unbleached muslin Whole Baby gift bag, they'll send you a case, it has Traditional Medicinal's mother's milk and rrl tea, a burt's bee's baby lotion sample, a 7th Gen. diaper, an organic oatmeal sample, and coupons for baby products at Whole Foods.

Lansinoh will give you samples of the cream and breast pads. Luna Bars will send you cases of little Luna bars.

I'm not sure they still do it but for many years
Mothering Magazine gave out a free magazine.

Hi seven kids,
Can you give me the contact information for the "whole baby" gift bag, it sounds wonderful for clients.

Not free but very reasonably priced: I bought a case of 48 or 50 of a back issue of Mothering mag. They didn't have enough of every back issue to fill a case, so you have to call and see what they have in bulk. I think it ended up being about a dollar an issue.

I've been able to get samples from Preggie Pops but that would make more sense prenatally than postpartum.

"Trust Birth"

Those bracelets come from Carla Hartley. Her web site also sells other items with the same logo. I think they are less than $3.00 each.

You can get postcards for clients that they can mail in for one free issue, or do the issues for free with only shipping costs:

You could also give them a BF icon sticker.

I give moms a sample of Mother to Be tea and Nursing Moms Tea during the course of the class.

Just call their customer service number, they don't have a seperate department for whole baby.
Or e-mail their contact number. I haven't tried in a while, I still have tons of them.

I just ordered a case of 50 back issues of Mothering for $35.00 which covers the shipping. All 50 copies are of the same issue, for available issue #'s check the back of the current magazine.

CM is my favorite mag : (sorry Mothering) and I get bulk packages of them from time to time which I bring in to work with me. Most have gotten distributed but I think folks were a little leary of the radical nature of it (well, radical to more BabyTalk folks anyway). I keep a little stash at work to hand out to moms who I think would really appreciate the mag....maybe I'll have to revisit the idea about putting them into all the PP bags.

Keep the ideas comin'!!

whole baby gift bags

Those whole baby gift bags were part of a promo last year and are no longer available. (I wrote to the company asking about them)

I've gotten free stuff from burts bees (before they were bought out), dr bronners, lanisoh, traditional medicinals tea.

Bum-MER!

Maybe if we all keep writing they'll bring them back?

This is a great thread, i also try to make up postpartum bags. I got a bunch of astroglide samples (like k-y jelly) and put a handout on postpartum and sex.

I also make up postpartum baths, give a few tea bags, lansinoh, information on sling use and a simple pattern (most of my women are plain, they will be able to sew one up in no time!!!)

I like the idea of luna bars and medicinal teas, I will have to get some of those. On one of the sites, birthwithlove.com? maybe? there is a section on freebies. I had my secretary call or write, but many aren't doing freebies anymore.

I made the mistake of asking for free american baby samples, they used to come with a free diaper or two and a free hand santizer, i was going to pull the packs apart, they sent me two HUGE cases of just the magazine! And I don't want to give that one out to my plain women.

Motherwear will send you booklets on breastfeeding (packs of 50 I think) free, which also double as their catalog.
