What IN there????

DD and I were at the mall today desperately (and pointlessly) trying to find some clothes that actually fit her (she's almost 4 and but only 30 pounds--anything long enough for her falls right off). Three little girls (maybe 4, 6, and 8) came up to me and one of them pointed to my (quite huge) stomach and asked, "What's IN there???" I almost peed my pants trying not to laugh out loud. I patiently explained that there was a baby in there, and that she is very tiny, so she is going to grow in my tummy for a couple more months until she is ready to come out. The girls thought this was the strangest thing they had ever heard. They all wanted to touch my belly and see if they could feel the baby in there. The youngest one kept lifting up my shirt to see if she could see the baby! It was soooooo funny! They were ther with their poor dad who clearly had no idea how to handle this behavior--he didn't speak English and didn't know what to say to me or what to do! I thought it was hysterical!!!!

FUNNY!!!!

By the way, some of the Gap and Old Navy have jeans and cords for my boys with these elastic and button adjusters inside to tighten for skinny kids. I wonder if their girl stuff does that as well? If not, maybe a pair or two of boys jeans with a girly top??

Oh yeah, the girls' pants have those too, but the adjustable waist unfortunately doesn't take in the 3 inches of extra fabric in the hips...it makes DD look like MC Hammer...

I fianlly discovered that Lands' End makes Slim pants in size 4--the only company I've found that carries slims in such a small size (most companies don't start slims until size 7). The only problem is that there are very few styles actually available (despite what the catalog led me to believe), and DD is still two pounds below the lower weight range. I ordered a pair of jeans from there today to see if they will fit her (fingers crossed). After that we may be down to nothing but leggings for the fall (which fit tighter so she can generally keep them up).

Does she like dresses and skirts? She could put those over leggings at least!

I betcha you could measure her and get some online WAHM shops or friends to make cute gauchos and things in her size!!

I have a friend with a super-skinny daughter (gorgeous, natural supermodel type figure- no curves, no hips...) and she buys her skinny jeans from The Children's Place. Try this: http://www.childrensplace.com/webapp...82&clearance=C

As for the rest of the story- poor dad, I bet he was embarrassed!!!! But still,

I don't know if you have a Kohl's around you, but they sell boys jeans, Sonoma brand I think, in a "slim" starting at size 4. Maybe they do the same for girls? Or maybe the boys style is neutral enough for a girl, I would hand them down to my DD but she does not look to be headed in the "slim" direction, she is full of curves and roundness already LOL. Anyway, their jeans were great with my DS... he finally hit 40 pounds shortly before turning 6.

That is funny!

If your dd likes dresses, I think leggings and dresses might be the way to go. I always think little girls look cute with in a dress and some fun/funky tights/leggings!

I like this site http://www.bodenusa.com/s.asp?segid=...+Pinnies&gen=1
