And can't sleep...possibly unrelated.
: The model of care where I am is you are assigned three midwives and meet with each of them during your pregnancy, in theory you will have your first during labour for you, your second during labour for the baby and the third is in case one of the others is unavailable.I
my primary, she was student at the birth of dd1, and delivered dd2. I have had one visit with m2, 2 weeks ago, and have never met m3. At last visit m2 said I would meet with m3 this week, then m2 following visit, then back to m1.
Today (or yesterday, Monday) I go to my appointment, see a woman at reception desk, she says you must be here to see me, this is my student S. S says lets go upstairs, m3 never even came up. S asked standard questions..but couldn't really compare much info with previous info since she said they couldn't find my chart
: ...and then proceeded to say this is the point in pregnancy they always like to warn about what could happen if your water breaks prematurely, that the cord could come out first, I would have to call them ASAP, they would call 911, I should go on my hands an knees, and it is very serious the baby could die.
Ok. This is my third time around with these midwives. I know preterm labour is nothing to laugh about...and to call right away if I think there is any chance of preterm labor...but never have I been given a speech like that before, nor do I think it was at all helpfull.
That was basically the end of the appointment...call us if you feel your water break or anything funny down there
:. I go downstairs and say I am suposed to make an appontment for m2 next. They say no, you need to reconnect with m1...maybe m2 or m3 next...meanwhile...I have still not officially met m3, just her student and m2 only once! The visit just left me with a bd taste in my mouth. I keep hoping that this baby follows in her sisters footsteps and comes quickly...then I don't have to worry about strangers attending.

I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I'm kind of feeling the same way. I'm at a practice with 4 mw's, 3 who deliver on a rotation, so you get whoever is on call. I have yet to meet the 3rd one who delivers. At my last appt, when I was scheduling this next one (later today), I told them I wanted the one I hadn't met yet, and they told me they didn't know who would be working that day yet, so I get whoever is there. The mw I met last time was terrible and snapped at dd2 right at the beginning of the appt. for moving the rolling chair onto the mw's foot (I seriously doubt she was really hurt, and dd2 is 2 yrs old, of course she's going to play with a rolling chair.) I was so stressed the rest of the appt., I forgot everything I wanted to talk to her about. There really isn't a better alternative for me though, so I'll stick it out and just wait until an hour or so before baby comes before going in, like I did with dd2.
