Would you buy these used dipes?

I was offered 13 Kissaluvs 0, 5 wipes, and 6 doublers for $150, shipping paid by an MDC mama.

They were used three months and are supposed to be in great shape.

That would stock me 100% I think on newborn dipes. Is that enough? 13 dipes I mean? I would still need covers.

I don't know about the price. Seems like I am almost paying the full retail price for each diaper but with free shipping and a few wipes and doublers.

$150 divided by 13 is about $11.54 which is the price of the natural ones and I am getting some colored ones.

But at that price, shouldn't I just buy new and pay shipping?

I guess I could counter-offer. What do you suggest?

I would buy new ones from the kissaluvs outlet. The dipes you are looking for doesn't sound like a deal at all for used diapers.

But the outlet is closed right now. I bought a ton of KL 0's a few months ago and I cost less than what you are looking at even with shipping. Have you looked for somewhere that sells them with free shipping?

Hmmm...I think I'd keep looking to find some used ones for less.

ETA: I just popped over to a link I posted last week for 12 KL0's used for 6 wks for $100 ppd. Unfortunately that lot sold, but I think that;s a more reasonable price. If you really want to use the KLs, I'd stalk the listing on diaperswappers and/or diapertraders. Or just offer the MDC mama less money GL!

I don't think that is a very good deal for used diapers either....

What's the outlet?

Nevermind, I figured it out. I think I am on that mailing list. Problem is, when will the next stocking be and will I have the cash at that moment? *sigh*

I'd wait for a better deal, if I were you... or counter-offer. I haven't looked around at diaperswappers (and should probably stay far away, from what I've heard!), but poking around on ebay might be good for comparison purposes. Although even on ebay, I've found that a lot of stuff listed there is at or above regular retail prices...

I think that's because eBay doesn't allow used diaper sales. It's all new stuff.

Hmm. I am no expert but I think they go through like 10-12 diapers a day at the beginning- do you have any others to supplement? I am anxiously awaiting my infant PF's to come in the mail. I can't wait!

yep! that sounds about right...if not more!

Cotton Babies was selling seconds awhile ago for six bucks, but I just checked and they're all gone!

I don't think it's a good price Gina. I like Kissaluvs, but they seem to be overpriced when sold used for some reason. Other dipes are just as good.

Sounds high to me too...especially when so many diaper sites have packages for KL's and free shipping with $50 or $100 orders. I got a package off ebay 2 years ago of KL1 (19 plus 4 off brands) for about $120, but they weren't as nice as described. I'm still going to use them this time, but think with KL0's you could buy new and resell and be way better off then that package.

BTW-I've been playing with my new prefolds and think they will be great for cheap diapering and a whole lot less snapping then fitted with covers.

Gina, have you seen this package?

And it looks like KL0 packages are about $65 for 6, doubles, wipes and colors are about $1 each, and packages of 12 are available with more of a discount.

And also here is where I freeze because I am convinced if I buy all these newborn fitteds and prefolds they will fit baby for an entire three weeks.

My 3 kids would have been about 9 to 9.5 pounds if born full term and grew out of 0-3 and some 3-6 mo clothes in about three weeks!

I just want to buy the next size up and take my chances, you know? I despise the thought of newborn sposies for a few weeks BUT I also don't have money to waste on unused newborn dipes, you know?

Then again I may spend $80 or $90 on 'sposies for three weeks whereas probably $200 for newborn dipes and covers that have a resale value.

Okay, I think I talked myself OUT of newborn dipes and back IN to them again. Wow.

If I got that package... Taking into account that my baby, if born around or later than its EDD will probably be 8-11 pounds, should I get the package? I've pasted the package details below.

Or maybe get the package but upgrade the NB prefolds 5-10lbs to the Chinese Prefolds 7-15lbs and hope the covers fit for a while??

Package details:

30 Newborn (2x5x2) prefold diapers and fits 5-10 lbs. (**SIZE UPGRADE AVAILABLE**)

2 Newborn Prorap diaper covers (belly-button cutout) fits 6-10 lbs.

1 Newborn Bummis Super Whisper Wrap fits 7-10 lbs.

1 Newborn print Bumkins diaper cover (lots of prints to choose from-click on Bumkins for choices) fits 6-10 lbs.

1 Newborn Imse Vimse Organic diaper cover fits 6.5-13 lbs. (runs big)

1 Size 0 Kissaluvs Fitted Diaper fits 6-12 lbs.

1 Small Drybees All In One Diaper fits 6-16 lbs. (you will get a gender neutral color - you can specify a color/print in the message section at checkout and we will do our best to honor it)

1 Small Fuzzi Bunz Stay Dry Pocket Diaper (click here for color choices)

1 Small 8oz Fuzzi Bunz Micro Insert (to be used in the Fuzzi Bunz Pocket diaper)

DS wore his 0's for exactly 3 weeks. 9 lbs@ birth - plus a bit of apparently super fatty milk from mama, and he was HUGE.

Have you looked here?

She's local to me, and I LOVE Joanne...tell her I sent you if you ever get anything!

10.99 for 6 plus.

I'm not sure I'd invest all that much in nb sizes again....granted, I have like 36 : KL0's, but, I would just get smalls if I could do it again. Esp if you know you have bigger babies.

Kerri helped me find an offer from an MDC mama that's so much cheaper. 15 Kissaluv 0s, 8 doublers and 10 covers. I just sealed the deal with her.

So that's it!

I was going to get some Heiny Huggers as they're thinner than Kissaluvs, but since I am getting 15 Kissaluvs and want to order about a dozen prefolds, I will be done I think. I just need to find the dozen prefolds at a great price.

Then I need to focus on getting the next size up, but at least I am going to be that much closer to being stocked for newborn.

This diaper buying thing is like being on a roller coaster. It's exhausting. I am waiting for it to be FUN!

Gina, I got the package from nicki's diapers you listed. I love it! Of course I haven't used it yet, but man they're cute! Seems like enough diapers for me... I figured I'd be able to try different kinds of dipes on my baby to see what we prefer before buying the next size. Wish I had advice on how the diapers worked, but as you know, I have yet to diaper a child at all. Seem like good quality dipes tho, and you can't beat that price.
