Waldorfy playscapes - if that's what they're called...

So I went to a winter carnival at a Waldorf school, and they had these neat felted playmat things. I'd never seen them before or since, I don't know what they're called, and I've not been able to find any info/books/patterns etc. I tried to make one using needle felting, and it was moderately successful, if you don't count the peculiar and tippy tree.

Can anyone give me information about what these are, what they're called, good ways to make them, etc? I really would like to get some inspiration, make something for the nature table or such. But I'm not all that original of a person - I can make most anything, but I need to work off of someone else's brilliant ideas.

Yes, playscapes is what I've heard them called.
Your mat looks great (I also think your animals are fantastic!)

Here is a site with quite a few photos, and great tips. Sage Dream Design
I have a friend that was at one of her classes and it was super.

Wow, thanks for the link! That site is glorious, and that felter is really really good. Now I really want to go take a class... sigh. Why do I have to be interested in obscure things?

And thanks for the nice words too...
