travel mug

Hi all!
I've been trying to find a non-plastic travel mug for a while now. I finally ordered a stainless steel one, only to find when I got it that it was plastic on the inside! And, it leaks horribly! Does anyone know where I can find something that has no plastic and is great for hot liquids in the car?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can completely avoid the plastic. I think if you limit your search to the >$20 price range, you can find a very high quality mug that is stainless throughout with rubber and maybe just a little plastic. I have one from Starbucksit was abandoned by a former co-worker). It's steel and rubber with a plastic lid.

I see you're in Cambridge. Check out REI and EMS in Allston/Brighton or on Boylston St.

Also ReuseableBags carries good ones. Again, I'm not sure if you're going to get completely away from the plastic. Perhaps you could ask them which ones don't have any?

I picked up a few @ Ross for 4.99 ea. The lid and handle are plastic, but the inside is stainless steel.

Doesn't Eddie Bauer make an all stainless one?

Target has one - at least my dh said that they do.
and Starbucks has a very cute one but it cost $20 - which is too much imo.

I got mine from Starbucks (thanks to my sis' lovely employee discount!) and I have to say, I'm hooked. I paid maybe $12 for it, though it was originally $20. Now, I would gladly pay the $20. It has no plastic inside, is double-walled stainless steel and holds both hot & cold very nicely. And it doesn't leak. Although, the lid is a plastic/rubber combunation.

REI is a good idea. I've seen some at Target and haven't been very impressed, they felt flimsy to me. Although, Target sells the ss Thermos stuff, so maybe something along those lines would work too?

I second Ross. They have really nice ones for $3.99 or so. Some have plastic outside but stainless lined which is the most important.

I was going to say Starbucks too

I bought one for my Mum, but don't remember any details. Basically it's a ceramic mug with a ceramic top - the lid fits in due to a slot/ tab system and is cushioned by a rubber gasket. However, it was made in China and I wasn't sure about the paint (plus it's ugly, it was just the first I'd seen with *no* plastic) so I was planning to take it to a ceramics store and have them duplicate it, then have my children paint them.

I love my PLA mug from www.biodegradablestore.com! I don't know if it's all that much better than plastic, but I really like it, and it works great for ten bucks.
