Has anyone painted their own 2 story living area or foyer? Did you use a ladder or scaffolding?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. We are thinking of payin someone to do ours, but it will be expensive.
I was thinking along the lines of a really tall table.

I have had 2 estimates to do ours and at $1200+ for labor alone, I was starting to think about doing it myself.

I haven't done it, but personally I would use scaffolding. (Depending on the size of the room to be painted) With a ladder you'd have to move it so many times. My parents rented scaffolding when they were working on painting the outside trim on their house. I think they rented it from a home hardware store and paid about $10/day?

Good luck!

Someone gave us a funky ladder that can fold into all different shapes. I think it was expensive but we (as constant DIY'ers) have used it a lot. A 90 degree shape worked awesome for the 2 story stairwell, and it can be used as basic scaffolding as well.

Renting scaffolding sounds like a great idea. Well worth the effort and money. The job will be a lot easier and quicker.

Ladder. Scaffolding is too much work. We regularly paint 20+ foot ceilings. Trim it out using a ladder and then get a kick ass extension. o't forget about trimming out a few inches. that way you don't have to get too close to the ceiling with the roller and risk hitting the ceiling

It works great for us!

If you were near me I'd bid it out cheap for ya

Foldable ladder here, too. It works great, plus you can get extra reach with roller pole extensions. We've painted our 2 story foyer twice this year using this system.
