The birds and bees... and the.. cents?

I mentioned in another thread that Pixie had finally asked where babies actually come from and we had been looking at books and talking about it together for the past week or so....

Anyway, when she reads the words to herself she obviously pronounces them different in her head because the other night she climbed over DH on the couch and then asked, "Oh, sorry! Did I hurt your PENNIES?" He was like, "My WHAT?" "Your pennies. You know.... your WIENER!?"

Definitely!
Last year, the night before the last day of school, she lost her first tooth but said she did not want anyone to know at school until she was ready to smile at everyone, so she and her teacher kept it a secret so she could reveal it when she was ready. Well, she is quite a talker and always smiling, but managed to go silent throughout the day and no one knew.... until afternoon when they had the awards ceremony.
They called her name for "best sense of humor" award and she stands up, turns around, and smiles really big at her whole class. Her teacher said she about fell out of her seat. Typical, typical Pixie humor. She makes me laugh EVERY day. I'm so lucky!

Yay for funny kids! I just love how their minds work. Sometimes they can be more difficult because of this, but it's SO worth it!

It is so funny to hear how they process everything...

We covered the basics with dd1 before dd2 was born. Now, she's really interested in details. Like exactly where the sperm is stored, etc... We were talking about testicles and the scrotum and where it is, etc. She laughed and said "oh, yeah! I've seen that swinging around on Daddy!" lol. Oy!

Funny, Jessica!

The boys have tons of questions about baby making and I am sure to give them all angles (like how it's not always conventional male/female) but that invites more questions and sometimes it's hard to make the answers age-appropriate.

I was trying to explain to my kids how a couple can get sperm if there's no husband involved. It wasn't good enough that a sperm bank or good friend were involved, my 9 year old wanted to know HOW they got sperm from a friend or made a deposit at a sperm bank.

I spoke with him about it a little but told him that it was a HOME conversation. His classmates are not ready for that discussion yet!
