my son is in 1st, they have a no-running rule as well. he's always very pleased with himself if he manages to play tag with a few friends for a while, and i encourage him to run around.

You better bubble-wrap him...what if he trips? Or even worse, what if one of the kids that he is chasing trips? You could be sued! :

That's awlful sad.

My MIL (who is a teacher) told me that our district made a policy that kids aren't allowed to play any organized sport like football or baseball without a PE teacher around to supervise. That irks me. That's a part of being a kid, playing those kinds of things free form.
