I think my water broke! [TMI]

I think my water broke while DP and I were getting "intimate" ... but how can I know for sure?? (TMI-->) After we finished there was about 1/2 cup of water....... If so, I'm supposed to get to the hospital right away to be treated for GBS, I think. I just don't want to show up at the hospital to be sent home AGAIN. The baby is extremely active now...

After your water breaks or when labor begins does the baby become VERY active for awhile?

[Edit:] Nevermind! False alarm... I guess I'm beginning to get ahead of myself (and this baby) because I keep psychin myself out!

hmmm...I think your amniotic fluid should smell like semen, but it might be hard to differentiate right now. Are you comfy waiting until the contractions start to head to the hospital? If not, they can take a culture and see if your water did indeed break. They did that with my first ds and it did break but it was just the forebag. Knowing what I know now I would have gone home at that time and waited for real bag breaking or labor, but we live and we learn. I wasn't GBS+ though so I'm honestly not sure how that factors in.

Well you must be excited! Unless there's some other complication or you have reason to think you're having a precipitous labor, I don't *think* you need to rush to the hospital until you're sure labor is starting. At our hospital you're supposed to have 2 abx shots 2 hours apart (I think? Or four hours), and you're SUPPOSED to have them finished 2 hours before the birth but as long as you get that second shot in there, the babe doesn't have to be treated after birth.

I would drink some water, lie down, rest, and see what happens. Good luck!

I would drink some water, lie down, get as much rest as possible.....I didn't have the chance to rest....whew...

I was GBS+ too and I showed up at the hospital with my cervix at 9.5cm and my water had been kinda leaking for a few hours.. I got 1 dose of the antibiotic and that was the only assistance/intervention I had while there.....just didn't want to chance things.......

My MW told me that I was safe at home until ctx I couldn't talk through or 8 hours, whichever came first.....my ctx started out without me being able to talk at all so.....baring the 30 min it took me to get down stairs and the 2o min car ride...

baby is ok.....

They can also do shots.....for the abx. I just forgot to ask....LOL

My doctor told me that it's very common to leak urine during sex late in pregnancy. 1/2 cup seems like too much to be urine, though.

If you lay down for about 30 minutes and stand up and something leaks out it's your water...

If you can gently press on your fundus and something leaks out, it's you water...

If none of this happens, it's urine...

Did you urinate before sex??

These were the instructions my MW gave me when I called and asked her if I had just peed on myself or what...
