my ebf 12 week old has what seems to be mucus in his poop I define it by pushing the diaper together and as I pull it apart it is kinda sticky is this right ? To me that's mucus right? Well I ask b/c I've had a lot of people tell me that his poop looks normal but my gut says otherwise !! I suspect an allergy/intolerance the mucus is like an egg white!! Please help if you know anything about this!!

I think snot is a good description, but egg white would also be accurate. Trust your gut feeling.

Has he had vaccines or antibiotics or formula?

Any thrush/yeast issues in you or him?

Does the poop smell offensive? A healthy EBF babe's poop should smell like curried yogurt ()

Any rashes? Hows the sleeping? Colic? These can be other indications of allergies.

oh snap forgot to add no anti biotics but he did have the 2 month old shots wish I knew then what I do now we are going non vax now after educating myself on this I'm overwhelmed with guilt for even allowing him to get those darn shots!! he didn't react very well at all and still has a knot on 1 leg a lesson learned to add I fired my ped what an idiot! as far as b/f allergies etc goes he's very uneducated and won't even acknowledge that vaccines are optional so thats that!! I'm sure ds's poor flora all messed up now! no formula either!

Yeah...the thrush is a big clue. Animal studies actually showed how they could manipulate the gut flora (colonize them with yeast) and then they became allergic to eggs (anaphylactic actually). If they were *infants*, giving them probiotics reset their immune system. But not when they were older.

So what you are doing now might have a very large effect on your child's immune system/allergies in the future.

Non dairy Natren Bifido Factor. Several times/day for him. Natren's Healthy Trinity for you in non dairy version.

Ginger may stimulate some bile but digestive enzymes (Enzymedica or Houston) and Betaine HCl (stomach acid supplement) might be more of a help.

Careful on the garlic, make sure it's not upsetting him.

Any indications of reflux?

jane yeah almost every reflux symptom silent reflux that is but these things are all so closely related I got the pancreatin (sp) enzyme and it is giving me the runs : sorry tmi I stopped taking it I'm going to try the ones you mentioned we are using a different probiotic with b infantis and bifido it is seemingly helping the poop a bit but not sure if it's that or the fact that I've been dairy and soy free for almost 1 week now.....it's such a confusing scenario seems the yeast is losing it's battle ''knock on wood''.... anyway thanks for the help!! btw don't think the garlic is a bother I'm using it b/c I'm allergic to diflucan and other antifungals so I thought it had yeast fighting properties!

when my dd had those "symptoms" (noone else thought it was wierd), I eventually linked it to a gluten sensitivity/grain sensitivity. (In both myself and with her).
