13 month old with a sinus infection

I couldn't find a forum to post this, so I figure since it was probably brought on by allergies that I would post it here.

My little guy has had a stuffy/runny nose since yesterday. It is green snot
I started putting saline in his nose today because is nose was very dry.

I think it is a sinus infection....no coughing or anything, acting pretty normal....just stuffy nose and smelly breath.

This is his first time being sick, so I don't really know what to do. When I was little I had sinus infections all the time, and was on antibiotics all of the time.

I have an AP friendly doctor and I guess I am just wondering what you guys think he will end up telling me to do. Like will he prescribe antibiotics right away or only if its not gone in a week or what?

ETA: I just did some searching and now I think maybe he has an upper respiratory infection and not a sinus infection. Which is a good thing...but any words of wisdom would still be appreciated

Well, as for the stuffiness, steam will help clear him out. For a sore throat, tea with honey and lemon is good. I honestly don't know if it would run itself out without antibiotics or not. And as for your pediatrician, you could always ask if there are non-medication alternatives. I have noticed with mine that he knows quite a bit about alternative medicine, but he doesn't always say anything unless I ask. I guess because most parents he sees just want to get their kid better.

Oh, and extra vitamin C would be a good thing, though I'm not sure how much you give to a child. It will boost his immune system.
