My family is planning a trip to San Diego in December and we're researching hotels right now. My middle child has several food allergies, including a severe reaction to dairy. Does anyone have any food allergy experiences to share about hotels or restaurants in San Diego? We're focusing on the downtown area, but I'd be interested in stories from anywhere in San Diego. Thanks!

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Try posting in the "finding your tribe" CA thread...there is an existing thread on San Diego mamas that you might want to post to, or start a new thread
I'm north of SD so am not much help. I do know that Outback has a gluten free menu, and most of their GF food is also dairy free (except for the flourless chocolate cake). So, basically their steak, veggies, salad..you can go on their website and look. For fast food, In-N-Out has burgers that are made fresh and dairy free as long as you don't get the cheese
Their fries are real potatoes, no dairy. There are also some vegan resturants and one raw foods place.
What are her food allergies? We are GFCF here and rarely eat out.

You should try emailing Beth Mays at www.afped.org Next year they are planning a conference in San Diego and they have to find a hotel that's very FA friendly. THere are a lot of people who attend who are contact anaphylactic to a wide variety of foods. This year's conference was incredible. They had a special hospitality room just for APFED people to store and prepare their food, they had contacted all the local vendors to make sure they either complied with certain safety measures or put in big signs that they used xyz in the kitchen. They served the buffet breakfast with each fruit in a separate bowl, all the bagels and juice had photocopies of the labels on them. It was great! Anyway, they should be able to help you since they are looking into hotels to host the conference next year. Good luck!
