Yes, I guess.
I have been so uninformed this pregnancy. I know I'll be a lot wiser the second time around.
I'm having the stupid glucose test not once, but TWICE. And this is my first baby and I have no risk factors. The first test came out great/fine. The CNMs here routinely do two GD tests for everyone, and I don't know why. A friend told me that even the ACOG only recommends one test (unless you have risk factors)
, so I'm not sure why they'd make two the norm here.
Anyway, I'll be having test #2 in a couple of weeks. I don't have to fast; I just eat normally and go in and drink this disgusting orange fizzy drink. Then they prick me with a needle and I go home. (Or, in this case, I will go and interview a homebirth midwife. :P)
What irritates me like crazy is that none of these tests is ever presented as optional! They just say, "And next time go straight to the lab for some bloodwork." So lame.
