Product/Service name:
Singapore Math: Primary Math 2A/2B/3A/3B/4A
Brief description of product/service:
Primary Math is a program formerly used by Singapore as state curriculum. Singaporean students traditionally do very well in math compared to the rest of the world, and much better U.S. students. It doesn't cover as many topics as a typical state (US) scope and sequence, favoring fewer topics in greater depth. US editions are available for all the material using US measurements in addition to Metric. The Home Instructor's Guide is a homeschool customized version of the classroom Teacher's Guide.
Here's the FAQ at SingporeMath.com, and charts showing Scope and Sequence.

Each year is divided into two semesters. Here's an example year for us:

Challenging Word Problems (CWP): 1 @ $8
Home Instructor's Guide (HIG) 3A/3B: 2 @ $16.50
CD-ROM (covers two full years, 3A/3B,4A,4B): $31.50

How long have you used this product/service?
About 2 years
Performance:
We came to Singapore from RightStart, a similar Asian style math program. Singapore is a better fit for DD1 for a number of reasons:
(1) Singapore offers her control over pacing. It is not scripted and the text is designed to be read by the student.
(2) Singapore is easily customized. Students strong in math can do the Intensive Practice texts, either in addition to or in lieu of the Workbooks. Students needing extra practice or reinforcement can use the Extra Practice books.
(3) Word Problems. Singapore uses a bar system for diagramming word problems. The problems themselves are more complex than other popular homeschooling programs. I highly recommend the CWP books even for those not using Singapore.
Quality:
I am pleased with both the content of the program and its fit for DD1, and am very impressed with the Intensive Practice books. They not only provide more challenging problems than the core course materials, but they also require the student to think beyond the material just mastered.
Customer Service/Communication:
Good. They even phoned when I'd ordered the original version by mistake, rather than the US version, saving me the cost and time of returning the order.
Would you purchase this product/service again?
We intend to stay with it at least through 6B.
Have you made a complaint to the company about the product/service? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof.
No.
Additional Comments:
Other Singapore programs are available, including other Math programs.
I give it (How many thumbs up out of five?):
