Advice on teaching child to spit?

Thread Starter
Hey there...

DS, 3, brushes his teeth in the morning, and I do it at night. In both cases, every time, he swallows the toothpaste. The boy knows how to spit, for goodness sake. I have told him it is bad for his body, that it's like soap for teeth, etc. (We don't use flouride, but still.)

Does anyone have any advice? What worked for your little ones?

Thanks...

Maybe try brushing your teeth at the same time and tell him you're going to have a spitting contest after??

I let my 3 yo spit in the bathtub, which he loves for some reason. He's much more likely to spit when he can do it in the bathtub. And I can rinse it down just as easily in there as in the sink so it's fine with me.
