Thunder = Babies? Will there be babies tonight?

There's a terrific fall storm going on right now - with huge bursts of rain, thunder and lightening, and a more constant lighter rain.
I have heard a midwife say that she thought barometric pressure changes might cause pre-labor ROM, kicking some women into labor.
I certainly have seen the prettiest storms driving to and from births. And watched 2 pretty white-out blizzards (well, for here) while someone labored. One baby was born by candlelight b/c the lights were out.

There are at least 5 women in dates. What'ya think the odds are of getting that call?

Do you think storms induce labor?

I think there's definitely something to the barometric pressure theory. Atley was born the day a tropical storm made landfall and the leftovers found their way to us. There was another mama there whose water had broken also, and everyone on the conference call my midwife was supposed to be on that morning had at least one client with broken water. We were supposed to have a tropical storm make it up here last week, but it didn't. I was hoping it'd help my now overdue client along, but alas...no baby yet.

I'd guess with 5 mamas due, you're likely to get called out with or without thunderstorms . Make sure you get as much rest as you can .

Thanks for the hug. I've been resting as much as I can. It's hard to sleep when I'm not tired, even when it's in my best interest.

I know! I'm REALLY hoping to get called out tonight, but I can't seem to get myself to bed, even hoping for a birth!

As an at term pregnant momma, who had a hind leak start 7 days ago (and looks like it resealed 2 days ago) I am totally into this idea with this baby for some reason.

I'm in Florida where there are usually thunderstorms every afternoon. All week they have been building but then just stalling on the horizon all around me, just like my every other day early labor like contractions. I have been feeling the tension in the air. I keep telling my mother that if it would just hurry up and rain I know I could have this baby!

I'm kind of excited to see the morning sky looking so gray. Last night I was very restless, I felt full of building energy. I also lost a huge amount of plug (have been seeing bits of it all week). Come on thunderstorm!

If I have the baby with this storm I'll let you know.

Well, perhaps Charlotte got called out and Abbie is having contractions, but I slept well last night - no babies.

When a monsoon hit here, I went into labor... so maybe!

Good thing we'd planned on a homebirth. The midwife found someone willing to drop her off but we were flooded in afterwards! No choice but to stay home. I loved laboring and listening the rain and thunder!

ETA: That was 2nd baby, not my UC!

Ooh! MamaRabbit, I need to read your thread - I didn't know you had your babies.

Turns out someone did start labor in the dark...wonder if it's coincidence.
