This is a great idea. Having worked at a Montessori school as an assistant teacher for a year I love the idea of having a nature table.

So one year we excitedly started collecting pinecones, acorns, etc and put them in the living room. I was very frustrated later when upon waking one morning I found that our acorns had drawn a mouse into the house who made a big mess of acorn shell and poop. Yuck!

I was not impressed. : Out went all the nature things. Because we live in the country we've had a ton of mice over the years and I was not about to encourage them to come in so that was the end of the nature table idea at our house.
