My umteenth question about cervical tearing

Maybe it's been long enough since my last question on the topic that none of you remember

Anyway.

DS1-I had cervical scarring, a long labor with a stenotic cervix and after the fact it was apparent that my cervix tore during labor. It wasn't repaired. It healed on it's own. You could always feel exactly where it tore, and actually you could still feel the rim of scarring everywhere except in the spot where I tore. The anterior edge of the lip felt longer than the posterior edge ever since. Feeling my cervix always made me think of a Simpson's mouth--the way it's shaped.

So DS2 happens and I dialate this time. Yay. The only hangup is this BIG floppy anterior lip. I was going to try to labor past it, but I don't know, an half hour or so went by before I felt it for myself & I could touch my cervix just two knuckles in! It was really getting dragged down. I had the MW reduce the lip at that point. (HOLY HELL does that hurt!) and baby was born 6 minutes later.

So, was that funky lip because my cervix tore & should I expect it to happen again? Oh, and how might I go about preventing it?

TIA

Was the cervical lip swollen or just there? Because I have no idea what the answer to your question is, but I've had a cervical lip in both my labors, which I had my mw reduce while I pushed (and yeah, it does hurt like h*ll, but in my opinion, less than being in transition for any longer than absolutely necessary). With DS2, the lip was also swollen, and at first reducing it didn't work. MW gave me homeopathic arnica for the swelling, it went way down, and then I was able to push past the lip while she held it back.

I can't exactly answer that question, but I think that anterior lips can often be felt 2 knuckles in.
General lip prevention: baby in a good position, moving around in labor, spending time in positions that are intense (not shying away from the ones that are intense)
