Not liking sad movies?

I remember there was a period of my life when I didn't get why would anyone would watch sad movies or read sad books. I just didn't like them for a while, and coudln't stand sad endings. That period of my life was when I was a teenager. I never really thought much about until DSD, who is 14, said the other day that she doesn't like sad movies! And she is very clearly ignoring all the ones we have that include sad end.

I don't know, is it a problem? I mean, I don't like most sad movies or books either. A very small few are on my like list and even for those I have to really be in the right frame of mind to watch them because they depress me. I can't imagine it's uncommon for people of any age to have a preference one way or the other, or even to go back and forth on the preference depending on what's going on in their lives.

Its an interesting observation, but it doesn't sound like anything to be concerned over. It sounds about the same as, she doesn't like the color green, or any other type of personal preference that gives someone individuality.

Oh no, I think it was misunderstood.
I'm not worried at all, I just noticed it and was curious if it is something that happened with others around this age.

I'm not going to force her to watch or read anything she doesn't want
