Doll for Five year old Boy?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice boy doll for a five year old doll. Something he can play with, lug around, durable, etc?
I don't mind if they come in "boy girl twins" as I also want a doll for my 3.5 yr old but she's easier to shop for in this area. LOL

My coming-up-on-5 yr. old son has a doll made by Groovy Girls. It's a boy with a skateboard, goggles, and helmet. They have a few other boy dolls, and TONS of girl dolls. They're made of cloth and are $10-20. I like them and I think they make great gifts for 4 and 5 yr. olds of both sexes. I bought my son's at Target but haven't seen any boy Groovy Girls there since, the toy store near my house has 2-3 boys though.

He also has a plastic headed baby doll who he lugs around with him everywhere (we got rid of every other plastic toy but he won't let her go). He named her Elizabeth after Pirates of the Caribbean and I made her a funky hot pink dress. If he'd decided she was a he, I'd have made boy clothes.

Since you have a DD, I think the twins would be nice. Then if/when your DS outgrows his doll, your little one can have it (guess that would hold true with any doll though!).

I bought a gotz play doll for my DD, which I really like because you can put them in the washing machine. They do have boy dolls and babies with no hair in blue outfits. However, the joints can come loose from rough play. My DS always liked playing with lego people, playmoble people and schleigh animals more than dolls... I did buy him one when he was little and DD has it now

Good luck and let us know what you found!

I'm coming from natural materials and quality work point of view here, we permit more typical plastic toys in our home but they're transitory and once DS loses interest or they break they're outta here. A special doll for him can't be in that category. When my son's a little older I'll make him a nice waldorf doll, make it because the same thing made by someone else would cost too much. I'd love to make something like this one http://www.joyswaldorfdolls.com/doll...honey_doll.htm as a little copy of DS (short hair, coloring to match my son's skin and hair).

We just got handed down a Groovy Girl and my 4 1/2 year old boy is totally into it. It's a girl and she came with a few outfits and he's having so much fun changing her clothes. I think the Groovy Boy versions are really fun too!

Thanks for all the ideas! I will look at them. I would have ds pick one out but I do not have any good places around here other than Walmart or Target so I'm really needing to shop online for a good quality doll. Thanks again and if you have any other ideas, please share!

This WAHM business has wonderful kits made with the best quality materials so that you can make your own Waldorf boy doll. Amy Prentiss is very helpful and will coach you through the process. Her patterns are easy to follow. I have seen some dolls made by mamas on their first try that came out perfectly.
