B&M stores?

How many mama's out there are planning to have one, or do?

I'm planning on one. I'm hoping to open in 3 years, 4 max. That way my youngest will be old enough to reason with..lol... She will stay with me.

I'm looking into opening a consignment store in my area. I've been doing lots of research and am looking at targeting female 15-30ish yos. I have my eye on an area that is near a college, 2 high schools and an elementary, also near major public transportation. Got lots of ideas for decore, layout etc.

One thing that is essential is that there is room to construct a roomy office that will also be a playroom for my kids. A tv, micro and a day bed. My hours would be shorter day. My kids also attend playschool at that age. So, she'd only be at the store with me a couple hours after school, and one or so before.(hours 11-5:30, Tues, Wed Fri 1-8 Thurs, and 10-4 saturday). Also the school my kids attend is accross the street, so everything is close. My oldest 2 by then will be old enough to help with some things (mostly housekeeping items, but still help).

Am I crazy? Does this sound feasible? I'd go with infant and maternity, but there are several here already, and I've watched them come and go already, I'm doing some serious research and market study. I'm scouting locations, close outs for fixtures, to see what kind of costs I'm looking at incurring. I'd need to get software, I want it off the get go, but my home computer would work there, I wouldn't get a second one right way. My major expense would be rent, finding consignors I think I'd be ok....

Well, any one else have big plans???

OH I have huge plans all right!!!
My dh is just grinning and bearing it...lol
Mine is going to be a natural ap type store focused at moms with small children. I will offer cloth diapers, slings, natural toys, natural snacks, bath and body stuff, etc. I will also have a play area with some of the toys that I sell for the customer's kids to play with, next to that a couple sofas/chairs for mamas to sit and nurse their little ones or snuggle to read, as well as information on bf'ing family bedding etc.

I am SO excited to do this, but have to find a location that it will be well received

This is very similar to what I am planning. Right now I will be within another store, but I hope to expand in a few years, and hopefully have a bigger space. I do plan on being very mama/baby/kid shopping friendly, with toys, and places to nurse and change baby. Starting within this store will save me much in the way of start up costs. I would not be able to do it without the help of my local non-profit grocery. I plan on being non-profit with the profits (after costs, and paying me, someday) being donated to the store that is helping me.
I am extremely excited!! Glad to see other B&M plans here!
