Help me create a good informational thread for my DDC

Thismama- I saw your thread in your DDC-- wonderful! you have inspired me. I want to start one in my own (april 2008). I would like to have the first post of the thread be a lot of great resources for people-- including intact care. Then hopefully I can see if it can be stickied.

Can you guys help me write this up?

I want it to be comprehensive but also not too long. I also don't want religion to be mentioned at all because I don't want the thread to be closed or come to any harm or create any battles.

I am thinking:

1) General articles about the prodecure/risks/etc-- maybe mothering mag or Mens health? I think 2 or 3 will suffice

2) Two video links - I am thinking Birth as We know it video and the graphic one (or do you think that's too much?) Maybe Penn and Teller?

3) Intact care/ INtact care agreement/protecting your son

4) link to CAC

What do you think?

I think its great that your doing this. I don't know how much help I can be. I certainly can offer my support! You have a wonderful out line. The Penn and Teller Video is my favorite. But I Don't think it would be wise to post one unless you post the site where the prospector can buy the video. If I were rich I would buy a bunch of videos and give them out for free. Showtime, and those who put a lot of money into making the film, the producers, got little in return. They're active in the intactivist community but since then Showtime has been reluctant in airing informative films such as the Penn&Teller. It sucks. But thats how they feel. May I suggest, a "Refusal Form" with no-circ diaper stickers.

Good Luck, let me know when its done. Can't wait to see it. Where is the one for Thismama? oh and uh, whats a DDC? You'd think I know by now since my membership was in 04. Tell you the truth, my first post was back in June of this year. I'm a late bloomer.

I think that's a great idea! I always hate butting into the DDC threads (although I did on thismama's thread...although I seem to have killed discussion!).

I'm wondering, though - would it at all be helpful to have the input on these threads of an adult male who is circed and not happy about it?

That is the most important point - his body, his choice. Does a grown man have the right to be upset that someone else surgically altered his body for no reason other than because they wanted to? If he does, then RIC is clearly wrong.

Perhaps that input could help mamas understand that this is not just 'another parenting choice'?

I would like to include an essay or pamphlet link concerning the ethics of circumcision to speak to the 'his body, his choice' idea...any ideas on that?
