I personally don't think it s that bad IF #1 they go easy on you (insist that they regulate it to where you are notcontracting omre than once evyer three minutes...and yes you have the right todo that!!)

And #2...don't let them break your water no matter what.

breaking your water too soon can lead to bad things quickly.

Do you have a birth plan ready?

lots of labor vibes for you AND me ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I had a cervadil/pitocin induction. This was my experience, take it for what it is worth. (No flaming for my decisions, please!)

I would advise that you rest early on, because my contractions got intense quickly. Find out if you are required to be constantly monitored, because that will definitely hinder your movement. (I had planned on using the jacuzzi tub to help with labor pain, and could not because of the monitors.)

Also, decide what you want to do if you feel the pain is unbearable and tell your support people your plan. (Do you want them to coach your breathing, try and help you relax, etc.) Also, think now if you would ever accept/ask for other pain relief and what that would be, narcotics like nubain, stadol, or epidurals and spinals.

I went into the pregnancy planning for a natural med free birth. When we made the decision to be induced, I decided, with my family's support, that I would do what I needed to get my baby delivered, even if it meant I needed help (meds.) Now some might think that this is why I received meds during labor, but the mindset made me feel like less of a failure when I asked for meds because the pitocin was insanely intense.

For the record, I got nubain and a spinal. (The hospital I delivered at did not offer epidurals.) Knowing how it felt, I would have skipped the nubain (that just made me feel a little loopy and still in a ton of pain) and just gotten the spinal (I was able to rest for about 1-2 hours before being fully "with it" for transition and pushing.)

Good luck!!

All in all, mine was not a bad experience, I started pitocin at 8am and delivered at 2:49pm, so it was quick but really, really intense. Take care!

When I was induced with pitocin I rested until the contractions started to come on, which I think was about 2 hours. I was allowed to move freely around the room but not get in the tub. When the contractions became more intense I used the birth ball and my dh's support to get through them. The labor was very short and VERY intense (about 2.5 hours from first contraction to holding baby) but I did manage to do it without an epidural (although I was begging for one at transition ). My midwife was actually caught off-guard by how quickly I went. She got there a little late, took one look at me, and directed the nurse to get the table right away.

You can do it mama! Have faith in yourself.

Pitocin induced contractions tend to be more intense, longer, more painful and closer together than 'natural' contractions. That said, I managed to get through a 7 hour pit-induced labour epidural free .

If your contractions are unbearable, one on top of the other, don't be shy about asking them to slack back on it. They eventually had to turn mine off and my body took over (I didn't need it anymore).

Good luck!

Walking is good, but lots of sex is better .

100% fully agree with the above!!! I didn't do #1 but did #2 and it really didn't do anything but then when they upped the pit a bit, WHAM....just on top of each other....I am sure I would've been better able to handle it had I known AND had I not had a posterier baby......

Get your birth plan together and then put it in no nonsense terms, short sentences....I found the nurses followed through and paid attention to it better this time around when I did it....

My experience is similar to this but with an epidural rather than a spinal...Nubain just makes your head feel like it went to a Cinco de Mayo party and left you behind....

I arrived at 5cm and 90% where I had been for 5 weeks, let them break my water bc I didn't know better and this was at 4pm. I got the pitocin around 11pm (they thought that by breaking the wate since I was already half way there, it would be enough...)....The ctx with the pit I explained a bit above....I asked for the Nubain, no effect but drunk.....then I screamed for the epidural.....DD1 was born almost 7 hours later....it was rough and hard....

I had planned for a natural birth and had things not gone by in such a blur (the only things I remember are the interventions I ended up with bc of the pitocin...) or had I known ahead of time I was going to be induced (went in for a NST and they decided to keep me), I would've been able to make more informed decsions.....and I'm still sad about how things went almost 4 years later....

I didn't know enough to ask them to let up on the pit a bit...I really wish I had bc MAYBE they would've been a bit more tolerable and I could've done it without the epidural.....but do ask and ask for them to do it...Your body will reach a point where it will take over and know what to do....

Just wanted to pipe in and give you my experience.....

I hope things go smoothly for you tomorrow morning.....and you end up with a fantastic birth as close as possible to what you had envisioned....you will be holding your new blessing all too soon!!!

I can't wait to hear the story!!!!!!

My thoughts are with you, hope all goes well. I'm wondering if it is already 7am your time today, and hoping you somehow managed your way out... All the same, you can have an empowering birth in many different ways. Hope that is how yours is!!!
