I loved the scene with Mark and Derek, the "I need a friend speech" I hope we see more of the two of them together. I also think Bailey will get a higher up job. And with the whole O Mally and Izzy can you imagine him telling Torres he loves Izzy and Torres is Izzy's boss? Its gonna get juicy! And I actually like Lexie, for now.

Dunno. Am I the only one who was wondering if the writers were on strike or something? Bad dialog through the whole show. I thought the whole plotline with Izzy was terrible.That scene with her and George in the stairwell about Bambi was not good at all. And the thing with the deer. C'mon. And even the thing with the family of the man with the broken neck. It was overdone, IMO. And Yang begging the man to live while he was in surgery. I get that she's wounded, but they went from that awesome scene in the season finale where she's sobbing in her gown to this put-on melodrama?! Don't get it.

I did enjoy the conversation between Derek and whatever-his-name-is about Meredith where Derek verbalized his observations about Meredith's messed-up inner state.

It's never been one of the more intelligent shows on TV, but it's fun. Seemed like last night they dumbed it down.

I know what you mean. I didn't think it was terrible, but I did think a few times, "Hmm... I guess they are sort of recapping in case they have new viewers?" I did not like the stairwell scene either but mostly because Izzy was being totally ridiculous and selfish, complaining that George was not there for her.

I felt bad for Lexie at the end when Meredith totally blew her off.

I loved Derek's explanation of Meredith to Mark. And I liked when Alex said he missed Rebecca. Looks like that might be resurfacing next week?

That's exactly what I thought. I thought the whole show was pretty weak, until the last 10 mins or so. Izzie was annoying the tar out of me, and there was nothing really going on that grabbed my attention. But those last 10 mins were great! Loved the Mark and Derek scene, loved the Derek/Meredith one, the Izzie/George one, and the Lexi/George one, but I think my favorite one may have been the Alex/Christina one. Can't wait till next week!!!

Well, I, for one, loved it. It felt like Grey's again to me, whereas the entire last half of season 3 did not. I loved the Bailey rules at the beginning, so great! And I loved the end with George and Izzy. I haven't previously been a fan of them together, but I loved how he said it, and how he looked when he said it -- it was *so* George. Can't wait for next week!

Oh, I did think the deer crap was stupid.

I SOOO did NOT want to like Lexi but she was so great with George.....

I totally think from the previews for next week that Callli is preggers just from how she's talking to George bc i think she knows about what happened or has a feeling about Izzie....

Love the breaking up....

feel kinda bad that Callie is messing up as chief res but Bailey really should've gotten the position....

and Christina fainting when she sees "Mama"

Washington, who played Burke, starts next week on the Bionic Woman (neighbor gets the TV guide....lol)

I think the first episode must be the hardest to write. I mean you are trying to remind everyone where you left off, you need to do a general recap for new viewers who are watching it for the first time and try and do a storyline when so much has changed. I will give the writers some slack. I see next week as the first full Grey's episode where they can really just write and maybe do a bit of reminding. While we didn't get much for a story we learned a lot.

We learned how George feels being an intern again, how much Callie wants a baby, how Lexie feels being their, Alex and Rebecca, Derek and Mark and how Derek sees Meredith, what Bailey thinks of Torres having the job... so they did accomplish alot just not in the way we were hoping for.

Mark!! Thank you! That's his name. For the life of me I couldn't remember his name other than the dumb nickname "McSteamy."

You're totally right about the last 10 minutes. I felt like it finally was what I expected the show to be.

OK, and I know this has more to do with actor's contracts and stuff than with the actual character developoment. But, if Burke would just take off and ask Derek to tell his ex-fiance who he left at the altar that he wasn't coming back, then, well, he's an @ss!! If he was a big enough boy to not marry her because he knew she wasn't ready, then he should be a big enough boy to at least tell her he's leaving. Again, has more to do with the actor not coming back to the show than with his character, but still. He could have written a letter or something. Another reason I felt like the writers were lazy about the episode.

i'm holding out in thinking that last nights episode was not up to par because they needed to tie off the loose ends from last seasons finale clifthangers. The Yang-Burke thing, Der-Mere thing, Would George be back or not, etc. It's like the 1st chapter of any good book, the set-up to greatness can be borning and blah and you just gotta wait until you hit chapter 2.

that's what i'm hooing for anyways.

Things i liked last night:

Izzy's speech after the Deer leaves... the deer thing is stupid, but her "i'm the kind of resident that a kid can convience to do the impossible" thing and calling them duds really hit for me.

Lexi's speech to George. Yeah - 'nuff said here - i'd really like to think that mer overheard the WHOLE conversation (esp the part about not knowing she even had a sister, a sister who hates her. This really mimics a lot of drama IRL with my in-laws ironically).

Lexi's move to get the other interns rooting for George in the locker room. I liked it - George (who is actually my favorite) always been shunted in the praise area until he doesnt some so astromitical it can't be over looked. I think once the Interns find out he is repeating year 1 - they wont be upset - but maybe see it as a good thing - someoen with the experience of a resident, but at their level. IDK - this is sounding out the way i mean it so i hope you all get what i mean!

Mark - Derek - love it - hope to see it happen (resolve their friendship).

Cheif - Bailey : i do think she is destined for greater things then Cheif resident... but i think the Cheif should have told her before announcing who would get Cheif Res. I totally think he is waiting for her to be in a position to become Chief and he will retire then (remember him telling her last season about choosing between the "4" cause she wasnt experienced enough yet?)

Ok - that's all i can think of for now! I can't wait for next week!!

Bailey can't be Chief of Surgery. She is a resident, not an attending. And The Chief is not retiring. He offered the position to Derek last season and Derek refused it, giving it back to Weber. Weber is staying for now.

Yeah, bad writing all around. The deer thing was just freakishly stupid : I almost expected Meredith Grey's old vet friend to pop out to save the day or something. And call me crazy, but shouldn't a kid of that age know where a hamburger and meatballs come from? (At least in vague terms.) The deer thing and the business with the little girl and his dad and all the blinking seemed like pointless filler to me.

But all in all, I enjoyed the premiere, in spite of all the badness. I thought Lexie Grey was adorable, and it was cute how she kept giving O'Malley pep talks. The only time she annoyed me was when she kept trying to get in Meredith's face about being her sister when Meredith was trying to work. I also LOVE Bailey - she just rocks my socks and, even though it was mean of me, I kept laughing when Bailey kept one-upping Torres or refusing to help her. Yeah, I'm evil. LOL. I hope that Bailey continues to move up the food chain.

I can't wait for next week! I honestly think George and Izzy together seems pretty lame, but I just find Izzy supremely annoying (especially after I finished watching season 2 and the whole business where she cut that guy's cord to stop his heart!) But the George/Torres/Izzy thing could make for some great drama.

I was kind of lost, there, or missing something (granted, I could barely hear bc I was trying to keep the baby asleep). How did the finale end with them last time? Were they not serious about breaking up to begin with? If so, why is Meredith breaking up? Honestly, the Meredith stuff has bored me to death from the beginning, but I would like to know what happened.

And how do Lexie and George expect to pull off that huge lie (about him being there for the first time)? That's lame - it would totally come out right away.

I agree, that I thought the writing was bad all around. Definately not up to Grey's Anatomy par. I usually love the writing on this show. The deer thing really drove me crazy, but I think it was an attempt to let the interns know who Izzy is, and I really liked how she came back and said "Instead, I got the duds"....I thought that was pretty funny.

I think George and Izzy together is too easy, and will ruin the show in some ways. My intuition is telling me that both Izzy and Calli will end up preggers and George'll have to choose. Personally, I don't like George with either of them, because I like him, and don't really care for either of them. Maybe he'll end up with Lexie.

I also LOVE Baily, she's my fave on the whole show, and I too loved how Torres kept failing. I felt so evil, but I just thought it was great

I also hope something happens with Alex and Rebecca. I think they need to take Alex in a different direction, and putting him with a girl will definately do that.

So, all in all, very poor writing for the premiere show, I doubt they gained any new viewers with that one. Here's to hoping that it'll get back to the Greys' we know and love very soon.

I didn't care for it much; I am done with Izzy and Mer and Torres, and am close to being done with Yang. Her character at least, imo, used to be really strong. But, I felt the writing last season went down the drain, and so far, they have yet to redeem themselves. I'll watch for a couple more weeks, but I'm not sure if I'll make the season or not.

I don't like Izzy and although I don't know much about Calli (didn't see season 3 yet except the finale!) I don't think I'm really a big fan of her either. I have kind of a soft spot for George so I hope he gets a girl who is good enough for him! Maybe Lexi will be it. They seem like they could be cute together. A pregnant Calli and Izzy would be interesting indeed.

And I am glad to know that I am not the only one who is so over Meredith and Derrik, and I have been since the beginning of the show!!

I think so too. And ditto about Callie. I usually love the show but was kind of disappointed. I mean the thing with the deer? Seriously? But...I am excited to see wehre all the plot lines are headed. S&M = Sex & mockery
