Birth Control Pills for BFP???!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm kind of dealing with issues getting pregnant with #2 and my Ob said I should try BC pills for three months to regulate things then stop them and shortly after I'd be able to concieve?!!

: : : : : : : : : :

Has anyone heard of this???

Interesting. Do you have any hormonal issues which are being treated ? Then it might make sense to "regulate" things with BCP.

I also hear (of course) about sooo many people who get pg right away after stopping BCP (and who have trouble conceiving otherwise) so maybe your dr has something there ???

I would love it if it were that simple after all this time... GL.

My first preg (ended in m/c) was the month after I stopped taking bc. I (up until now anyways) had never ovulated on my own. So hey, it does for some people, lol.

That's interesting, because I went off four months ago and have yet to ovulate. :

No such luck for me! I'm trying Vitex to get things going. My midwife brought up the possibility of Clomid last visit and I *really* don't want to resort to that.

To me this sounds like a case of your doctor having NO CLUE what's really going on and how to properly treat you. So many doctors just throw birth control pills at every problem without bothering to figure out the real (sometimes very health-threatening) underlying issues, and without looking for *real* solutions.

If you are not ovulating you may have some hormonal imbalances. Birth control pills are NOT the answer! You should have all of your hormones tested and then be prescribed bio-identical supplements for whatever you need.

Birth control pills are synthetic and cause all kinds of damage to your body and fertility and can cause damage and even death to your baby. They rob the body of Folate (which prevents birth defects and is essential for pregnancy) and increase copper levels which can push you over the edge into copper toxicity. (and those are just the side-effects I can easily remember)

Many women have infertility for a long time after stopping the pill. Speaking from personal experience, I wish SO much that I had never taken the pill, and demanded that the doctors look into the real problems instead. I knew since I was 15 that I was hypothyroid and estrogen dominant. It took me till I was 27 to get properly diagnosed and I'm still struggling with getting treatment and restoring my fertility.

You can go to this website: http://www.diagnostechs.com/main.htm and find a list of doctors who do saliva testing (the most accurate testing for hormones and adrenals) and many if not most of them I think will prescribe bio-identical hormones. Also go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com and read about thyroid disorders (which can also cause erratic periods, infertility, and lack of ovulation, and often goes hand in hand with hormonal and adrenal problems) You can also click on my name and do a search, I think my last two posts have been about thyroid and hormones, and have a LOT more info than I had the energy to type here.

This has had such a HUGE impact on my life and I have learned so much and been dismayed to find how clueless so many docs are, so this is one of my soapbox issues. If I can help even one person not suffer what I have, I will be very happy.

I'm also trying the pill Apri for 3 months. The idea is it will make my uterus completely shed its lining every month. I was having heavy irregular periods after a miscarriage in June. I will give it 3 months but no longer.

I would go see an RE instead of an OB. This is just a guess and you might loose valuable time. It would be better to get some tests done now instead of trying BCPs.
