Those are so beautiful! What a wonderful thing to have and hopefully pass on through the family!!

We're using a cradle that my grandfather built for ME when he found out my mom and dad were expecting me, his first granddaughter. My little brother later used it, my cousins used it, my nieces used it, my firstborn used it and now the new little guy will use it.

I get all emotional just looking at the thing! So I totally get the awesome-ness of what your stepdad has done for you!!!!

Those are gorgeous! I love classic wooden pieces!

I have a mini rocking chair passed down from when my grandmother was a little girl, but that's not as practical as these.

They are beautiful - I love the colours that he has stained them.

Aimee - your tiny rocking chair will come in handy in a couple of years. We have one as well that belonged to MIL when she was a tot, and DD loves to climb in it and rock and insist that I rock in my rocking chair which is right beside it.

Thanks for the compliments! I really do love the pieces. He made our kitchen table and livingroom tables and we had him stain both pieces to match those. I like dark stain. The pieces are made out of oak and when I first picked the dark stain for the tables he made a few years ago I think he nearly died because he likes light stains. He has said that he actually was surprised how beautiful the dark stains looks.

He didn't sign these pieces. I tried to get him to, but he wouldn't. I will make sure to write a story to go with each piece as I would really like them to be handed down in our family.
