Oct No-Spend Challenge: End of the month is here. Hang on No-spenders Almost There! - Page 8

Well I went in for my first by-weekly grocery shop today. It was a big one as there were a bunch of staples we were running out of but I kew that and budgeted for it.

Not only did I not get anything that wasn't onmy list but I found a few things that were on sale that i didn't know about and ended up spending $15 less than I pland on!

Yay me

1/10: -$15!

Well, the first day is almost over - but I can say that it has been a no spend day for me - and a good thing I did not have the stroller in the car or it might have been $$$ on a walk with friends. So yea me - I fought the urge and won today.

Then, when I got home, my credit card bill from last month was in the bill. Yikes - 985, I was expecting 600 or so, proof that all those small little thing really do add up. Sigh, well this should help with my resolve at least.

day 1 - $0 non budgeted spending

I am thinking I have to up the personal money to $50 for the month. So:

groceries: 0/$800
gas: 0/$250
coffee: 0/$30
Halloween: 0/$40
fast food: 0/$25
personal products: $30/$50

I spent $30 today at Office Max. I bought resume paper and envelopes and some tape to mail out my ebay sales. I didn't want to cheap out on resume paper. I did resist all coffee and snacks along the way.

Ashley, thanks! I was actually thinking along those lines today. I am trying to think how I am going to handle Christmas.

Already failed!!!
$3.55 on a latte

$5 at chucky cheese (not so much of a failure on this. who has a birthday party at chucky cheese and doesn't provide the kids coming to the party with any tokens )

$19 at Target (panties for DD Needed and $10 shirt for me also needed)

$ 5 at Goodwill ( $2.58 spent on two pairs of cords for me needed the rest on books not needed)

So

$5.97 spent on un-budgeted things
$21.58 spent on budgeted things
$5 at chucky cheese not bugeted but with in reason
total of $32.55 spent on day 1

Hi I'm Jennifer, This is my first time joining the list but we do this almost every month, but with Christmas coming I want to keep track of things better.

We got our house when both of us worked and now I sah and homeschool our 6yo. I need to stretch $ as far as possible.

Right now, I only go shopping if we need something specific and I don't go to goodwill anymore because I always find good deals that I don't really need, but they are too good to pass up.

I'm going to try to make as many of our holiday gifts as possible, but I'll have to buy supplies. I've picked up a couple presents already that I got great deals on. Those I kind of grab when I see them because I never know what will be on clearance. We've also cut way back on who we give presents to.

Today I spent --

$20 for my dad's birthday (lots of treats/snacks), lots of it was b1g1f so I'm saving the left overs for Christmas.
$13 -- frivolous, I was starving and starting to get shaky so instead of cooking at home I stopped on the way home and picked up take out.

October 1: $2.75 for my Ice Cap!

I haven't been around much I know. I've been pretty busy doing some personal growth stuff I guess you could call it.

I got a new job too! I started today. It's only for 4 hours a day,5 days a week.I may be able to get some hours this month and next though.I nanny for a 7 month old girl. It's been a while since I had a girl.

I did buy a bus pass today for $65,but that will be rembursed at the end of the month! A nice surprise from my new employers! They said if I don't mnd they would like to pay for my bus pass for me! No,I don't mind at all!

October 1st-no spending but but lots of budgeted stuff for the month yesterday. I need to be careful with DD big party this weekend and all the family that comes with it!
$152.06 for a car repair, so not a no-spend day, but at least it wasn't frivolous spending.

And it would have been a no-drive day as well, but DH and I both had to go get the car being fixed. But at least it was a completely necessary trip.

And I really wanted to start the month off with NO SPENDING and NO DRIVING! :
Day 1:
Did not spend a dime.
Ate leftovers for dinner- extending my grocery budget.
Tried not to drive anywhere to save gas, but dh forgot his lunch and I had to bring it to him. Oh well- better to burn the gas than have him eat out for lunch.

Overall, a good day!

Oct 1 - NO SPEND!!! wooohoooo
awwww CRAP!

I cannot freaking believe myself! I was just browsing ebay (one of my no-no's) and just bid/won an auction that we didn't need (toys for DD) for $43.93 including shipping!!!! Then RIGHT after i paid i remembered...hello! It's october no-spend month!!! I'm so freaking mad at myself right now. CRAP!

In my somewhat defense my mom and me had a HUGE blowout today. As in "you are dead to me" so i think i just shopped out of HABIT. I'm great at retail therapy...pshhhh. NO MORE! I'm not letting this get me down. Hopefully i can tighten my budget a bit to re-coup the $43.50 spent on ebay so it wont ruin my budget at all! I can do it!

NO SPEND DAYS: 0/31
I did not spend anything BUT I found out today that I owe $30 to my favorite cool, local political group because I bid in their silent auction t be spportive and actually won! I am now the proud owner of 2 dozen cupcakes from Magbolia's Bakery!
