I had a grocery store dream the other day -- expensive groceries kept appearing in my cart and I was trying to get them out of there. It was a nightmare actually! This thread has worked its way into my dreams!

Shampoo is a necessity (unless you no-poo) so you can still get your five days...you're doing great!

Day 4: Spent $10 for hot dogs, chips, and drinks for family. I could have packed a lunch, but I couldn't have carried it all AND dealt with both dogs on leashes. (We went to a Halloween festival in town where the kids dress up and get candy at local businesses and people bring their dogs too.)

I ALMOST had a no-spend day. I mentioned that I'd love some LaCroix, so DH said he'd walk DS up to CVS for some LaCroix and beer. When I said he'd have to take the checkbook he asked if the budget would pay for his beer, since it was paying for the LaCroix and he doesn't drink that. Sigh. So I said yes.

But CVS apparently doesn't carry LaCroix, so when he came home he gave me some money to put toward the beer since he felt guilty. But the beer was $6.33 and he only had a $5. So $1.33 in spending today.

Plus I ALMOST had a no-drive day. But tonight we went for a short walk around the neighborhood looking at Halloween decorations, and I spotted a small dresser down by someone's curb. It was too heavy to carry a few blocks home, so when we got back I took the car to go pick it up. I'm excited about it, though, because it's in good shape and a nice size to maybe use in the dining room for art supplies.

10/1: $152.06 car repair
10/2: $74.31 groceries
10/3: $313.57 ($200 deposit into the United Natural Foods Buying Club account and $5.26 for a sympathy card and q-tips and $108.31 in supplements and shampoo/conditioner at LuckyVitamin.com)
10/4: $26.65 for a retractable clothesline, three animal magnets, and some tea-light candles
10/5: $0...finally!
10/6: $47.98 ($24.58 groceries -- including brats for the grill for dinner -- and $23.40 for a reusable furnace filter and wooden dowel at Home Depot)

10/10: $0

Thank you for this thread!!!
If you don't mind sharing, what kind of things did you cut? Trying to see what we can cut... But not much I know, if anything.
Prudence, do you realize you only need one more no spend day to meet your goal?
And if you don't spend any more, you'll have 23/20 no spend days!
How's that for motivation?!
I fell way, way, way off the wagon for this month. (No coincidence, I was also way, way off my diet this month. The two, unfortunately, often coincide. ) I'm jumping right back in, though, and am making up a comprehensive budget for November. There are more planned expenses, making cashflow tighter for the "extra" money leaks. I'm impressed by how many of you are doing so well and I want in on the action!

Well, we started with our "out to eat" budget. It went from $300 per month to $80 this month. (No more daily starbucks visits)

No, we do not need to visit Disneyland 4 times a year.

We do not need Clark (contrary to the commercial ad).

No more Target. For better or worse, when I shop at Wal-mart, I spend less money. And its not really because of the prices. I just do not like the store, and am less likely to spend extra time wondering the aisles looking for cool stuff. At Wal-mart, I go in, get the 2 things I need, and get out as quickly as possible. At Target, I linger, look, and come out with $200 worth of stuff.

Groceries do not need to cost $150 every week. I can do better.

Drive less- I cut almost $100 off of my gas bill because I decided not to go everywhere in the world this month. (I also discovered that it is truly amazing what you can accomplish at home when you are actually there.) This also helps the no-eating-out/no-starbucks rule, too

The truly amazing thing is that we were spending so much unnecessarily in the first place. ::
I don't know how much help it is though. I got most of the ideas from you all in this thread. :
