Gardasil - Help!

I'm doing my consolidation (pre-grad) for my nursing degree.

For one important class, I have to give a presentation on Gardasil.

I was really hoping to use this as an opportunity to show some scary facts about the vaccine, and the big push behind having the FDA approve it due to the fact that it's a million dollar business.

So far, after looking, I can't find anything credible that shows this! Ack! :

I know there's info out there (by reputable sources) showing the danger, etc. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I'd really appreciate it!

Any chance to prove my vaccine loving prof wrong is so nice!

The link below are some I found on another board. I remembered reading them and thought you should too for research purposes. There are very scary things about gardisil so stay encouraged!!! Hopefully this helps you some! The points made below are my personal issues thus far with the vaccine but the links refer more in depth on a few of them! Good luck and keep up updated on how it goes!

-All vaccines are million dollar markets. There is a reason that they are pushing mothers to give this vaccine to their daughters at a young age to have to be boostered before they should even be sexually active.
-There are 100 (more or less) strains of HPV and this vaccine only "protects" against 4 or so?? (might want to check out the numbers on that one)
-Men have HPV too and are the carriers but they are not vaccinated??
-HPV cures itself with a healthy immune system and will not cause cervical cancer if it is cured. Vaccines are known to deplete the immune system making it unlikely that HPV would ever be cured or prevented from the vaccine.
-Very few cases of HPV cause cervical cancer and the ones that do are not vaccinated for in the vaccine!

The "placebo" used in testing this vaccine contained as much aluminum as the vaccine (except for 300 people who got a real placebo).

Deborah, what is the significance of this? That the placebo was possibly creating similar symptoms as the real thing and therefore the vaccine is not "worse"?

The original concept of a placebo was an inert substance that would have no effect. Aluminum has considerable effect. That is why they put it into vaccines.

So any symptoms or reactions caused by aluminum would be identical across the two groups. Since we don't normally go about getting injected with large doses of aluminum, that means that the entire test group was different from the general population, which, IMO, defeats the purpose of having a placebo arm to a study.

The info about placebo is in the product insert I think. There is usually a lot of useful info on how a vax was tested included in the product insert. You can also see tht the vax wasn't actually tested on girls as young as 9 years old, and yet it is being recommended to this group.

There is also the huge confusion about what the vax does to people who already have HPV. It may actually make their condition worse. Which is why they want to give it to the very young.

But I'm not an expert on this particular vax.

Thanks everyone! This is exactly what I needed.

It was hard sorting out what I wanted to say; so this info really gives me the jumping off point to prove why I knew the whole Gardasil vaccine is even scarier (is that possible? ) than other vaccines.
