I will 150% certainty get PPD, I have had it with ALL my littles, and I have some kind of depression/bi-polar normally.

So I want to encapsulate my placenta in december, but I think its really yucky and I dont want to do it!

Can you hire someone to do it for you, or do you pretty muchh have to do it yourself?

My dh wont even listen to me talk about it, LOL. If I say the word Placenta in front of him he curls up fetal style and vomits. LOL

I think the placenta is amazing and I really belive in the healing power, I am not sure why I am so uncomfortable about this!

What about throwing some pieces in the blender with a smoothie? A lot less work, and you can't taste or see it if you put in other red things like strawberries.

does it taste like blood?

I put some pieces in with yogurt, milk, bananas, strawberries, and it didn't taste any different than my usual smoothies. There is no way I could stomach it if I could taste it. The strawberries are good too because the red from them masks the red from the placenta.

So did you just eat it all at the same time or did you keep it frozen or something. Does anyone have info on how it is supposed to help PPD specifically?

Anyone ever had it not work?

I ate some every day for a week, and then I buried the rest.

I'm not sure how it works, but I know I read links here, so hopefully someone can give you more info on that.

The difference between this birth and the last were amazing.

LOL, I can relate, my hubby curls up fetal style at the mention of it as well. which cracks me up because he is a hunting guide and sees nothing gross about being elbow deep in blood and guts. :

Anyway, I'm a doula and I have helped encapsulate placenta for my clients, and I know others that have too, so if you have a doula or midwife, they may help you out if you don't want to do it yourself.

I am going to try the strawberry smoothie thing.
I think it sounds easiest, plus I wonder if the process of dehydrating the placenta might cause it to lose some of it's healing properties.

But seriously, the whole thing kinda freaks me out. I know that it is natural, but it isn't normal in our society.

But I figure it will be fun to tell people that I ate my placenta, especially the people who are weirded out by having home births/midwives etc !!
