A homebirth montage... - Page 2

I love it! I think my favorite pic was the last one, the girl looking at her new sibling on the blanket.

Yes!

And I'd love to change it to the Dixie Chicks, but I cannot bear another song change - I just got the timing right at the end with this one.

Yes, that's one thing that I'll explain up front....in fact I'm likely to discuss some issues (like we can do VBACs at home, as well as twins and breeches and we view those as variations on normal, not catastrophes waiting to happen). I'm still working on the presentation - I'm not one for totally planned out presentations as I get more nervous following a script, but I'm working on a basic outline and some powerpoint stuff.

Love it!!!

Just the right length and the music was great...

I was holding dd (4wks) and she was fussin like crazy and the minute Mama Cass started singing, she stopped and looked right at me and layed her head on my shouler....

Now I need to seriously go look for my Mamas and Papps LP (yes, LP).....

Gonna send the link to my Doula if that is ok....

I Love this book. I don't know if it's too late for you to read it:

Culture, Religion & Childbearing: A Handbook for Health Professionals

by Alix Henley and Judith Schott

I loved the photo montage. Fabulous!

I love how smooth and warm Cass Elliot's voice is in that song particularly and it goes along with the progression of the images very well indeed. Great ultimate choice for music!

The women's faces do reveal alot about the depth and breadth of the here and now experience of birthing. The fathers also reveal the truth of their experiences in those images, as do the siblings.

I wish I could be there to hear you speak, Pam. It'd be a treat. I think it's a wise move to just simply inform and show. Seeing is believing. A picture is worth a thousand words. (add your favorite applicable old saying here)

Please let us know how your presentation goes.

I particularly loved that you didn't show any midwives (as far as I could tell.) Just moms and their partners and children. Great! (But as I am in my office I had the sound turned off and now I just have to go listen to it . . .)

Love the video! Mind if I share it with some friends?

I couldn't listen to the music (don't have sound on this computer), but if you're still unsure/looking, I wanted to suggest "In Metal" by Low. It might be a little too ... creepy, though.

Quote:
"In Metal" Lyrics:

Filling holes with tiny sounds
Shining from the inside out
Picture of you where it began
In metal
In metal

Partly hate to see you grow
And just like your baby shoes
Wish I could keep your little body
In metal
In metal
In metal
In metal
In metal
In metal
Let us know how it goes! Wish I could attend.

ok, I changed it - the music sounds really, really right on (thanks pumpkinhead!!!) - and it was about two and a half minutes longer. I added more text - not sure if it's too much...if it is, I'm waiting on some more pics...maybe some (*gasp!*) land births.

Well, Pam... I honestly didn't think you could make that montage better than it was- cuz it truly seemed perfect when I watched it earlier with "Dream A Little Dream of Me"... but you managed to really deepen the experience of watching it, with that lullaby by Dixie Chicks!! NOW it is perfect!

It's beautiful and I love it. Thank you for creating it. Can I share it with others?

Totally, Joyce! I think the images are great and the info is necessary. I love the song, too. I'm so glad for the suggestion! (Thanks again, Pumpkinhead - you know, I should have your real name!)

I love it! I love the added pictures and text, love the picture at the end, love it!

I just wanted to thank you for posting this. It was beautiful in every sense of the word. I have been really on the fence about a homebirth for my next baby (I am not even pregnant yet, a couple of years to go for that). But seeing this was like turning on a lightbulb for me. It is so empowering to finally have this feeling. I had a horrible birth with my son. I really disliked my CNM, didn't have enough support and got an epidural, my baby was kidnapped to the NICU for no reason, I didn't get to see him for two hours, and I just felt violated in every sense of the word. I am really trying to heal from this experience and am already planning what I will do differently next time. I am going to start by hiring a homebirth midwife and trusting my body. Thank you again.

Very awesome montage!

I love it. LOVE!

The change of song was a good call. I loved it though with Dream a Little Dream (you had me singing it in the shower!), but this was a step above that. And I just sat and cried and cried and cried while watching it. Just beautiful!

So beautiful--thanks for sharing. I just welled up with tears at the last picture, it makes me so excited for two.

I've also been on the fence about hb vs bc birth. I can prepare for both and go with what I'm feeling while in labor. While watching this, I thought: home and then I ordered my fishy pool

Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

I especially love the song. Great choice.
