I think it is wonderful. My one concern is that everyone is white it seems (although I could be wrong). I wonder if you might be able to add some POC who homebirth so that it does not look like a 'white thing'?
Yeah, the whiteness of the montage is because it features photos from my practice.while I realize I could have asked for strangers' photos, I did want this to be pics from my practice. I also know I don't have any land births on here for the similar reasons (however none as glaringly discriminatory).
While there is no excuse for exclusion, it wasn't done intentionally and its not unnoticed by me. Sad fact is I live in a community where most of my clients are white and middle to upper middle class. I did want to be able to say these were births that I attended as a midwife, with clients I knew that gave me permission to use the shots.
The race issue around birth and breastfeeding is something I'm still learning about and am really perplexed about. I've been writing some about it in my blog and have been reading more on it.
Does it make sense that I wanted it to be avail to also be used as an advert for my practice in the future...and representative of the types of more hands off births I do as a midwife? I mean, does it make sense without me hiding behind my white privilege?
I'm open for discussion about this (even further criticism) on this topic, here, on another thread or via pm.
