Would you have a homebirth? - Page 2

Hmmm...when we found we were pregnant, a hospital birth didn't even cross our minds. We were like...huh...cool. Better order the pool and finish renovating the bedroom

And FTR, this is our first. Birthing to me just seems so natural that it doesn't need hospital intervention unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary.

unexpected UC

Last Sunday I had an unexpected UC and it was amazing. I wasn't scared at all, my body took over even when my brain was saying, "I can't be having the baby all ready" You will know what to do, especially if you have had other births. My midwife got to my house about 20 minutes after the baby arrived, helped me with the placenta and getting cleaned up, I needed 2 stitches from an old episiotomy that likes to re-open and that was that. You should talk with your midwife if you are really worried.
Good luck

I have never really had any complications so I am not worried about that part.

What would you ladies do? Advice?

absolutely, why would the midwife be slower than you on the way to the hospital?

I am having a homebirth and would be o.k if my Midwife didn't make it (she lives an hour away too). I trust my DH to deliver b/c I know he would be very calm and he is a certified EMT. He has never been close to delivering a baby but I think it is such a natural process for our bodies and that we are all just animals. I would be more fearful of the hospital than a UC.

I have fast births too (the mw didn't make my 2nd birth and my 3rd birth was just 41 min). I've done a hb everytime and would choose to do so if I were ever having more babies again. Be prepared to deal with things on your own, but like at least one PP said, fast births are usually very straight forward. Also, would you rather be giving birth in the car? I mean, how would going to the hospital change how fast you have the baby? If you're really that fast then your best bet is to plan to be home, imo.

My fear right now is a problem arising and haiving no idea how to deal with it. Like the shoulders getting stuck. Thats my big one. No idea why. Just that fear in the pit of me saying I either need to know how to deal with it or what to do in case.

Jesse did used to play baseball so I could just say to him hey hunny catch LOL. He isnt to supportive of much but tells me he will be there for me when I need him in labor. He thinks I am crazy for a homebirth.

I *could* get to the hospital in time but do I really want to? Not so much. I am thinking I could get a bunch of towles and blankets from good will for cheep so then I can just toss them instead of washing them. I dont have a washer and dryer in my apartment. I have to go to Jesses house a couple blocks over.

Hmm gonna post another thread....
