DO's are Doctors of Osteopathy and regular MD's...two in one...a great deal...although some don't ever really offer to do Oseopathic work on thier clients so they are more like straight up docs...it's nice if you can get one who will do both.

The best Doc in our area, and one of the best in MA is a OBGYN/DO, and he uses his DO talents and is sooooo low intervention. His c/s rate is 8%.

However, I have met other OBGYN/DO's who are more medicalized.

It's like midwives, you have a wide variety some more natural and some more interventionist.

So, ask if they use thier DO skills in practice and ask what thier c/s rate is and that will give you an idea... Although the right midwife can be a great way to go too...

Yes. They can attend them in or OOH. My dad and two of his siblings were DO attended HBs and is youngest sister's was a DO attended hospital birth. The osteopathic hospital around here had birthing chairs, bars, balls and slings back in the 60s. Now as osteopaths have gained in mainstream credibility they've lost a lot of their skills and tools. Fortunately some younger osteopaths are embracing their tradition and schools are *beginning* to teach them.

BV, who values old geezer osteopaths
