Question from a newbie (OB vs RE)

Hi,

So, as you can see from my join date, I'm not new to MDC, but I'm new to this forum. So... my DH and I have been TTC since February, I've been charting and just started taking vitex. About a month ago, my DH and I took the Fertell test, my results were normal, his were not. So... now we are looking at having some basic testing done. So, I went to see my primary care doctor for a physical and got a referral to see an OBGYN. So my question is this, who orders the basic tests, an OB? At what point does a RE become involved? Also, does the OB order tests for my DH, as well? If not, who should he see?

Thank you!

In my case, it was my ob/gyn that had ordered the testing to be done.

I have to add though, I wasn't seeing and RE.

In my case the OB had to refer us to the RE and the RE did the basic tests. If DH ha needed more extensive testing though, the RE would have had to refer him elsewhere.

After ttc for 1 1/2 years, I went to my OB, and she ordered the basic tests. The HSG showed blocked tubes. My OB said she would not be able to help me and referred me to an RE.

I had almost all of my testing done through my regular OB - DH had his semen-analysis through a specialist that his regular Dr referred him to.

Thank you for the responses, everyone. It sounds like there's a couple of ways this can go, so I'll just go and see my OBGYN and start there. Thank you!
