Kegels Accountability Thread for Jan. 08 Mamas!

Are you doing your kegels?

I keep forgetting! In my first pregnancy, I tried to do them in the car at red lights. I guess now I'm too busy chatting with DS to remember that now! But I really need to do them and get a reminder sometimes when I cough or sneeze.

Anyone have a clever tip on how to remember to kegel? :

i'm in the same boat. i work out religiously every day, but can't for the life of me remember to get the kegels in there. and yeah, i hear ya on the sneezin thing.

i need some inspiring advice, too.

I just do them before I eat - odd combination, I know - but I never forget to eat.

sign me up for the reminder program

Maybe do them for a minute or two after every time we pee?

:i'm also guilty of not doing lots of things that i probably should be doing this pregnancy. it seems like each one has progresivly gotten harder to do all of the good things. i'm lucky if i take my vitamins every 2 days
but i try to do them if i'm watching tv or knitting..which doesn't happen much these days!

I do them, but not as often as I should. It's easy to forget!

Our Bradley instructor gave us these florescent orange reminder stickers though. Maybe I should use them...

Yep! But still probably not as much as I should.

Not a bad idea. I think something visual would be good for me. Now I just need to find stickers boring enough that DS won't steal them!

I always forgot to do them with dd, and I am forgetting to do them with this baby too...the only time is every other day when I exercise...I too need some way to remember...
we should start a kegels accountability thread, like the exercise one

Consider it done; I changed the title! :

I did about 50 in bed this morning. How's everyone else doing?
i did them when i woke up this morning, but so often i forget. count me in!

also, what types are you all doing? i try to do a combo. i do some where i contract the muscles for longer, and others where i contract the muscles frequently and quickly. then there's the elevator....

ugh. i really need to remember these, but more for my pelvic organ prolapse. :/
post #15 of 52
i don't know if "the elevator" is the technical term, but that's how i think of it. i'm sure i read about it somewhere. you tighten the pelvic floor and hold it for a few seconds, then tighten it more, hold a few seconds, tighten more, hold, etc... and the hard part (for me) is that you're supposed to reverse the action: release tension a small amount, hold, release a little more, etc. once i get to the "top" and i'm done holding it there i just want to let it all relax.

Great title change! I did them after I saw the title!

The elevator is my favorite, it never really gets easy...from what I have read, the relaxation part of the kegel is just as important as the tightening...and yeah, zenma, I am with you on the relaxation part being kind of hard

this is great; just seeing the thread continue to get bumped is the perfect reminder for me.

I've been doing them as I drive in the car, do the beat of the music. How nerdy is that?

My Bradley book says to do 150/day, holding for 3-5 seconds each!!!

Well, it's reassuring I'm not the only one who forgets. I just did 20 when I saw this post. I try to do at least 20 at a time throughout the day but then when I add them all up, I always forget what number I was at!

Damn brain drain...
