More unwanted commentary

The other post about remarks about number of kids, etc. reminded me -

the other day I was walking down the street and a woman sitting on a bench said to me -

"you look overdue (I`m 39 weeks on Sunday) how much longer are `they` going to let you go?"

WTH???

I replied quite crisply "actually I`m going as long as I want because I`m not letting `them` anywhere near me!"

What is it about being pregnant that makes your body open for public commentary anyway?!

I can't stand the remarks about "letting you go overdue" especially when you're not even at your so called due date. I'm 38 weeks and haven't had any of those comments this time around, although I've heard a lot of the "You look like you're not going to make it to your due date" Thanks. So I'm as big as a house. Last time I was as big as a house and I was induced at 42 weeks.:

That is very annoying. I was 9 days past my DD with DS and everyone was freaking out. I tried to tell them that I am not overdue or postdates yet so it isn't a big deal. It's not like they are the ones hauling the belly around, don't see why they care. They acted like I was hurting my baby or making a bad choice. morons.

Nuts, grandma in law told me once when we were discussing my long prodrominal labors, "if you went to a doctor they would make sure you had your baby when you start all that contracting. They wouldn't let you go on for days on end." Clearly, my body is unable to get the job done, so I should just schedule inductions...:

We went to Sonic after my dd's soccer game yesterday and two complete strangers came up to me while we were sitting at the table sipping our slushes. The first one said "oh honey, can I ask how far along you are (40 wks Tues) - you look miserable" ~nice~ The other gal (about 10 min later) asked something similar - how great to be told you look miserable : My dh was with us and seemed amazed at what strangers will say to me - I told him this had been going on all month long - I am "all baby" in front and have been measuring 2 wks ahead so I do look big (I guess) but sheesh!

I was hesitant to go to my dd's soccer game but did anyhow - pulled my chair up to the bench (dh is coach) instead of going over to sit with the parents on the opposite sideline thinking I wouldn't have a constant parade of questions/comments from the parents (there are 12 kids on the team which makes for a lot of parents!) but to no avail- I had a steady stream of people (mostly moms) giving me sympathy pats on the back and sharing their "last week of pregnancy" stories of woe (they all know I was at the hospital on Thurs night with contractions that peetered out and resulted in us going home because that happened while dh was supposed to be holding a practice for their kids - I will say that was interesting- most were shocked I had not insisted in being induced and was still pregnant (because I was contracting regularly and "favorable" an ob may very well have suggested/done but the midwife discouraged))
