How long does CLO stay fresh in the fridge?

I've had an opened bottle of cod liver oil in the fridge (back of the bottom shelf) for at least a couple of months. Maybe longer? I don't remember. :

It's Nordic Naturals, and still tastes fine. But I don't want to be taking any rancid CLO...soooo, how will I know if it's safe?

My old bottle of Carlson's said to use it within 90 days of opening. I don't know how quickly/obviously the taste goes bad--I've wondered if it's always possible to taste rancid oil.

Somewhere on the NN site, in the FAQ I believe it tells you that if your oil is rancid it will 'repeat' on you.
