How much do you spend yearly on clothing for yourself?

count everything: shoes, swimsuit, underwear, everyday clothes, going-out clothes, etc.

Honestly, I have no idea, but I'd ballpark it at about $250. That's $120 for shoes, and another $120 or so for everything else.

Actually, probably not that much. I spent close to that this year, because I needed some clothes that would accommodate my very big pregnant belly, but I don't usually buy much.

I buy a new swimsuit about every 10 years or so...if I really have to. My current one cost me $25.00. Most of my clothing expenditures are on socks and underwear and an occasional new bra.

Next to nothing. Really. So far this year I got some nice chinos and fitted tshirts from ll bean (but those were free with cc points), $30 for another bra, maybe $8 for underwear. I pretty much only wear jeans/shorts and tshirts and they last forever. My job doesn't require nice clothing and it's just not a priority for me.

No clue.
Judging the state of my wardrobe, not nearly enough.

I almost never buy myself clothes. Except for a few used maternity things, I think I remember the last time I went out and bought clothes for myself, and it was in 2003. :

probably between 200-300. Its enough for me. Then again I'm not into clothes that much. I buy more comfortable things than dressy things.

Probably around $100 for me. And that's only because I forced myself to buy clothes for myself.

Maybe 100-150. Yeah, give or take.

Probably around $500. It would be a lot less if I didn't WOH.

I shop thrift stores, rarely buy new so I have loads of wonderful clothes for very little $

Shoes when I buy new are $$$ being I wear a 10 with a high arch. Its rare to find newish shoes at a thrift store in that size. Though I did score a pair of LL beans all weather mocs

So back to the question... maybe $100-$200?

There is however a coat and leather backpack I want to buy brand new. Coast is $40 and the purse/backpack is $180. Being the company they come from are wonderful, those items will last me till I tire of them

OMG - I wish I could do this. I buy one pair of walking shoes a year (okay - this pair is two years old, but I really need a new one...will pick some up after the baby is born). Unfortunately, the only brand I've found who make one that fits me reasonably well is New Balance and they're $120-$130 a pop. (I wear about a size 6EEEEE...but the New Balance 7EEEE works reasonably well.)

My dress shoes (heels) have to be custom-made, but I got my last pair done about 10 years ago. I'll probably scrape up the money for a new last and a new pair soon...but that will be about $300 all by itself, so it must wait.

Is this thread about how much we spend or how little we spend? Because I do spend money to buy clothes I like and which fit and wear well and I am not ashamed of it. And I spend a %^&load more than $10 on shoes.

I hate how women get competitive about how little they spend on themselves. :

Yeah I just had to buy dress shoes for grad school interviews. Size 12, wide, high arch, high instep, mild plantar fascitis. I ended up buying "men's" Pikolinos (they are actually unisex but it was a men's size) and they were $165.

Hard to fit is one issue with shoes for me, the other is once you've had foot or joint problems you know that cheap shoes are expensive and NOT worth it!

Yeah - I've got the high arch and high instep, too...really weird feet. (My feet are almost exactly half as wide as they are long - people tend to call them "cute".)

And, I think I'm paying now for wearing crappy, ill-fitting shoes most of my life. My pinky toe on one foot has turned sideways!

I just can't be bothered with clothes - never could. I hate shopping for them, and don't much care how they look.

Aside from being a compulsive miser (inborn, I think - was like that as a little kid, too), I'd spend a fortune on myself if I had it...but it would be on books and stuff, not on clothes.

Before I started losing weight, I'd average about $50. I tend to keep my clothes forever. I'm still wearing things I've had for 15-20 years. Now, I'm having to buy more clothes than normal as I get smaller. When I reach my goal weight, I may go nuts.

$50 in a year?

I never thought of myself as having champagne tastes and I spend a lot less than many of my peers. But I cannot comprehend what people are wearing that only costs $50 a year, or where they are buying it. Even at second hand shops $50 won't get you very far IME. Unless you're doing one of those "clothing by the pound" deals.

$50 is a superlative deal on a good coat. Or it's a couple pairs of pants. Or maybe 3 shirts. A mark-out on some decent running shoes. A bra and maybe one pair of underwear.

Then again my mother taught me it's not thrifty to spend too little on things that need to stand up to wear and tear. So I refuse to buy clothing from Target, Walmart, or any of the other "bargain basement" type places. It tends to be really cheezy. She used to say "eeeevil!" as we walked by Payless.

I don't understand what you see as competitive? I've just never been interested in clothes, so it doesn't occur to me to buy them until everything wears out and I have nothing to wear. It's nothing to be particularly proud of, though!
