Uti

So remember I had a UTI a few weeks ago? You don't! Shame on you for not reading my post.... Anyway, I did and at first it was a trace. The next week it was +2 and I said I didn't want to do antibiotics because of well 1. I hate them but even more so because DS and DH are so allergic to antibiotics that I'm afraid they might hurt my baby. I've been taking Cranberry extract and yesterday got some cran(something) and I've been taking that too. I haven't been taking either, though, as much as I should. So today my lower back REALLY hurts and I've got some mad pressure going on. What should I do?

keep up with the cranberry stuff. Take homeopathic remedy cantharis 30c whenever it hurts. I take it about 3 days. works every time and I've never needed antibiotics for a uti.

My midwife asked yesterday if I was peeing more than usual....Ummmm... how do you answer that if you are in your third trimester?

Actually, you DO notice an increase. I'm not kidding. I know it sounds bizarre, but it's true.

i've heard taking cranberries fresh (pureed, mixed withwhatever it needs to taste good) is better than the juice b/c enzymes are lost in the pasteurization process, etc. Good luck getting rid of it! Beats being GBS + like I just found out today....grrrrrr....:
cheers,

my non-abx UTI protocol:

stop consuming any and all sugar (even fruit) - it lowers immune function. Drink the unsweetened cranberry juice.

consume as much raw garlic as possible - powerful natural antibiotic. I usually make a broth and then chuck it in finely chopped right before I eat it.

on that note - consume as much liquid as possible! warm teas and broths are preferrable. I know it sucks to pee so much, but you need to flush everything out.

drink nettle tea. Supports the kidneys and therefore everything the kidneys flow into (i.e. the urinary tract!)

take the homeopathics as suggested above

make tea out of corn silks (yes, like from an ear of corn)

rest as much as possible and keep your kidneys warm - I wrap a scarf around them under my shirt/sweater

I am loathe to take abx and this is what works for me.
g'luck!
